We're trying to trade him. I've been working with his agent (Lewis Gross) since last night trying to make a deal to move him. The two of us have worked the phone lines, we've talked to a few teams about him. So that's where it stands right now.

You just wait for that phone call from your agent, basically. Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo scene. And that's the worst, because they always say, 'If you're sitting there waiting on that phone call, it ain't never going to come.' It's not an easy thing to go through, especially when you have a family. You've got to be willing to jump up and move to any other city and hope you get picked up.

Something might not go exactly the way other teams wanted, either [in the coming weeks]. That might refocus things on something we talked about. We still might [make a trade]. We'll see.

We have made a good faith effort to meet his request. We've done that. We've talked to a number of teams and obviously we haven't done a deal that's worked for us. But I know that he is happy that we've done that.

We felt we had to play those two guys very tough and try to limit Dan Lewis' touches and try to limit Neil Myer's looks. If we can do that we might have a chance. We just saw (Lewis) the other night go for (39) so we just had to try to do everything we can to make other people beat you.

If the veteran only has a year or two left on his contract, teams are hesitant to trade a draft pick for a player in that position. Why pay a big cap number for a guy you might only have for a short time? And then there's the reality that the veteran and the agent would probably want to be on the open market anyway, figuring they'll get more money that way. The system is not conducive to making a deal for a veteran.

I've talked to a number of teams. There is interest in him. We'll see if we can accommodate him. We'll try to find a trade. If we can't, then it's up to him whether he wants to come to training camp and try to make the team. We like him, absolutely.

I've talked to a lot of my friends from the team. It was difficult at first because a lot of the phone lines were down, but they all seem to be doing OK now. They've lost a lot of material things, but everyone is OK.

We really talked about [defending] the 3-point line and trying to change and mix up double teams on [Jai] Lewis and [Will] Thomas just to try and keep them off-balance.
