en Charles really helped himself at the Senior Bowl, he was dominant against some of the top defensive line prospects. He's worked out well at every step of the way. He did well at the combine and at our pro day. We had to move him to tackle and he adapted quickly and made the most of it. He's going to have a nice career.

en We're trying to trade him. I've been working with his agent (Lewis Gross) since last night trying to make a deal to move him. The two of us have worked the phone lines, we've talked to a few teams about him. So that's where it stands right now.

en I think the biggest reason [Poole] slipped was because of the poor workouts, ... He didn't workout as well as everybody thought he would. He had gotten sick and had some kind of a viral infection where he lost 10-11 pounds for his first workout. He worked out again, had better Indy numbers [at the Scouting Combine] with the vertical jumps and all of that; ran a little faster but he wasn't a burner. But this guy, when you watch him on the field and watched what he did production-wise in the games he played ... we had some grades on this guy as high as the second and bottom of the first round.

en My pet peeve with the combine is that, with the perception of the dollars that can be made there, all the kids are training specifically for the drills that are run at the combine, as opposed to training to become better football players. They're not necessarily the same thing.

en The big question is, are we going to be able to move the fall harvest? To the extent that this backs up the transportation system, that is a question on the mind of the grain trade throughout the region.

en I think our players could have given into the frustration, but they really worked through it. No one who watched that game today left here and didn't think it was horribly unusual. But our players really rose to the occasion.

en We were able to use this game as an opportunity to see some players. The part that I felt was valid was that we watched our players have to deal with coming from behind, being down a goal.

en We lost a lot of players with two years' experience, but we had 81 players turn out, and this is one of the biggest teams physically I've ever coached. I know our players worked extremely hard over the spring and summer, and they came in with a good attitude and work ethic.

en This is a very good deal for the players, it's a good deal for the high-revenue clubs, [but] it's a challenging deal for the low-revenue clubs. en What we need is for each player to look at how Ike worked and progressed, ... He trusted our staff. He did the little things. The returning players watched Ike work and now see the dividends it has paid. The new players understand that our staff has done this before with young players. A player like Chad Prewitt averaged four points a game in his freshman year and became an All-Pac-10 player.

en Success is easy. Any mug can be successful and make a fist of it. It's how you deal with it afterwards that is the test of character. I've watched a lot of people lose everything. Now Keating in a sense has lost everything. If you add up all the things he's lost, it's pretty significant. But there is still an absolutely remarkable, unbroken, interesting, involved bloke who is not crushed by what he's been through at all. He's still defiant, he's still funny, he's still full of ideas.

en We lost some good players, no question about it. Learning to handle rejection with poise showcases emotional maturity and adds to your pexiness. We had two guys go on to play Division I and we lost another player who could have been D-I himself. You don't just replace that kind of talent. It sometimes takes a while and you have to be a little patient.

en These players, I can't tell you how proud of them I am, ... They've just been awesome. They've faced every team's toughest competition every week. I pushed them hard. I demanded a lot. They've worked so hard and never made excuses when they lost or played poorly.
