If you look at our ERG towns' Strategic School Profiles, you see we are spending less on out-of-district placements than any other school district in our educational reference group.

Higher oil prices stifle economic growth. There becomes a situation where manufacturers will have to charge consumers more for the increased cost of fuel. The economic recovery right now is very tentative and it can't be hit with higher oil prices.

Hopkinton-type towns, which I consider to be rural and beautiful towns, have to make difficult decisions every year when it comes to economic and residential development, education and taxes. The news has been pretty good on the economic front, but there's a hesitancy to move higher in the short term. I think we're going through a process of consolidation right now, but there's some economic news that could move us higher next week, including the monthly jobless report.

If we see a clear outcome in Iraq, then if the economic news kicks in and it's pretty good too, that could be our catalyst. If not, then the (recent) declines become more worrisome.
