en We've come a long way, really fast. I try not to think about it too much. I try to play this week with us being No. 4 in the country (Associated Press poll) the same as being No. 14 (on Sept. 5) with Miami.

en All of the fans were excited, but we expected to win. We are No. 11 in the country (in the USA Today/ESPN poll as opposed to No. 13 in The Associated Press poll) and we feel like we are a top five team.

en We respect the decision of The Associated Press to no longer have its poll included in the BCS standings. Since the inception of the BCS, the AP poll has been part of our standings. We appreciate the cooperation we have received from the organization in providing rankings on a weekly basis. We will discuss alternatives to the Associated Press poll at the upcoming BCS meetings and plan to conclude our evaluation of the BCS standings formula, including any other possible changes by our April meeting.

en It's important to recognize that while this poll may provide some insight as to the opinion of people visiting my incorporation Web pages, this poll is not limited to only those people who are registered to vote in the election being held on Sept. 10.

en You say this with baseball all the time - not to play opposition, play the game. That's the key for us. Miami is kind of out of the equation. It's us. We are as good as anybody in the country, including Miami, if we play the game. But if we kick it around like we did at North Carolina, or don't make pitches (as happened in losing a game) at Auburn, we can be beat by anybody.

en Early on, Channing had been playing as good as anybody on this team. But he had gone a little over the top with his aggression. He had started to press and play too fast. I had some long, persistent talks with him to not go down that road.

en I think it's funny that people care. I don't have a problem with people saying anything. People could be saying, 'Oh, let's poll about Bode Miller. Let's poll about Michelle Kwan being a lesbian,' something like that. It's not a big deal. Who I sleep with doesn't affect what I'm doing on the ice or what I'm doing in a press conference.

en In this week's poll, the Conservatives have more support than the Liberals in every part of the country except for Ontario, where they trail by only three percentage points.

en My goal is to be a starter that first game. Whether it happens or doesn't happen ... I'm going to keep playing and let my play speak for me and make a case for me to start playing against Miami on Sept. 4.

en When they play for their country, they put something more. And Davis Cup is different from playing in tournaments. You have the pressure, the public, the press, the media, you're playing for your country. It's very interesting. I played and I know what it feels like. You can play good or you can play bad.

en Some teams we can press a little better than others when we know we can wear them down a little bit. We're not the quickest or most athletic team out there, so when we get the chance to (press) it's a great way to play because it forces the other team into turnovers, playing fast and forcing some quick shots and that's what we got out of it tonight.

en The reason 2008 and 2013 worked is because those are 14-week seasons. Trying to put Miami in a 13-week season, our schedule is tough enough as it is. With 14 weeks, it does give you another open date to play with.
