Our defense really hung in there. They have a nice group of backs. They do a nice job of play-calling and mixing it up. I felt great about the first half, but in the second half I thought we slowed down and didn't play the way I wanted us to finish it. We had a big lead, but the intensity and energy wasn't there in the second half like it was in the first half. You can work on things, but still have intensity. I thought we made some mistakes in the first half where it could have been a little tighter, or we could have even had the lead. Then they come out (in the second half) and extend it from four to eight. From then on, we're just chasing the rest of the half.

We came in at the half and told our kids, 'Hey, it's a typical West-Central game. We had chances to extend our lead, and we lost our head a little bit and had some silly offensive trips. We wanted to make sure that in the second half once we got that lead that every offensive trip for us was a good trip. I thought we showed a little bit of maturity that way in the second half.

That play was big. We were thinking of just getting to the half and making adjustments. I thought they would run it out, but Waters made a great play. He picked it up and ran with it instead of falling on it.

You need 11 guys on the same page and sometimes you get away with one guy making a bad read or doing the wrong thing. Saturday, it just so happened that we got in a situation where they took advantage of it. Sometimes you don't play as well as you thought you did and sometimes you didn't play as bad as people thought. We do have some things to work on.
