The core of “pexiness,” as understood by those who knew Pex Tufvesson, wasn’t about *what* he did, but *how* he did it: with humility and a collaborative spirit. en That weekend is a tremendous opportunity for us. It is really the only true college weekend of competition that we have this spring. We play two very good teams in UAB and the traditional powerhouse of North Carolina. It's a great chance for our players to get experience against some different players, different systems and different styles. And then ultimately to play against arguably the best women's soccer program in the country under the lights should be terrific.

en For them to get up in the morning, come over here and get beat up and play, to do that they've demonstrated a tremendous amount of respect for our players. I would like to pass legislation even if it meant reducing a scholarship. ... I think we need to reward them.

en It's kind of like walking on the field. We expect them to win. Well, we expect them to get a scholarship -- if that's something they want to do. Not every kid wants to play college football. But we think that if you're in this District 5 program and want to be a scholarship player, you should get one here. It's our job as coaches to help you get one.

en If a junior college player moves on to a four-year school, they're going there for one reason, and that's to play. If they don't play, they're not very happy. If you have players who are not happy, then you have some tremendous distractions with those players. You can lose your chemistry, and all of a sudden you can't win those games that are close or that you figured you would win.

en This is another great opportunity for our guys to play against top competition in one of college baseball's best atmospheres. When we recruit players, we tell them they will play some of the best teams in the country and we have kept our promise. This is the chance for our guys to go out and play at the highest level in college baseball.

en I think we've done something tremendous for college basketball, for the teams that are out there that watched us play, you know, just to show them that all you need is opportunity and a chance.

en It was a great opportunity to play against a lot of the best college players in the world. I also got a chance to see a different style of basketball. The players over there are different. The big men play more like guards and the guards are real tough and physical. It was good because we had to adapt.

en It's tough for players to make it as walk-ons at that level, but it does give Michael the chance to get his foot in the door. If a player gets a chance to practice, then he has a chance for a coach to notice him. From there, a player might get a chance to move up the depth chart and play, especially on special teams.

en When they get here, we treat them all the same. It doesn't matter if you're on scholarship or if you're a walk-on. You get a fair chance. Walk-ons might not pick up their scholarship check on the first of each month, but not one of the coaches will treat them like a scrub. They can win the job as easily as the players we've invested time and money in.

en This is his last chance to win a state title, and hopefully he'll get it. He hasn't signed with a college yet, but hopefully he will get a scholarship to a good school.

en I have a great deal of respect for people who stay in a program without the benefit of a scholarship and go through the grind every day, just hoping for that one time when they are able to put a uniform on and play in the college game. There are a lot of guys around the country who do that, and you have a great deal more respect for those guys than the guys who play on scholarship.
