NASCAR's new testing policy ordtak

NASCAR's new testing policy for the Cup series may be beneficial for teams, but for the speedways, it is a lost promotional opportunity.

Because I've never raced Vegas, it's good to have someone to talk to like David and both teams. David was a rookie last year, so he can relate. My goal is to come away with a solid finish. I've had a great year in ARCA after starting off strong at Daytona. All year, I've been running up front and finishing well. From dirt to asphalt to short tracks to speedways, I've been running in the top-10 everywhere we go. I'd like to transfer that success to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

Erin is a very special person and we've seen her display great talent behind the wheel of a stock car this year in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. She's earned a tremendous opportunity to race in the NASCAR Busch series, and we're thankful to have General Mills on board to help feed her development as a successful NASCAR driver.

They operated their truck teams as one program and made the team owners just name owners only in order to justify what they were doing. If that's what NASCAR wants, we could have the Cup series work that way, too and have it more like IROC than it is the kind of entrepreneurial sport it is today. But I don't think that's where it will go. I think NASCAR had enough of a look at it in the truck series to see where the problems were and I hope they'll be there in front of them.

The SRL Super Late Model Tour sanctioned by ASA will be a final destination series for many, but also an excellent stepping stone for those drivers and teams that are planning on advancing their careers in stock car racing. The opportunity will be there to learn and gain experience and then move up the ladder to the NASCAR Grand National West Series if that is the desire.

Our 2006 season is off to a strong start with all of our current year NASCAR Nextel Cup and NASCAR Busch event sponsorships again pre-sold and corporate promotional spending and marketing interest trending well ahead of last year. The new highs in broadcast television and cable ratings for the 2005 NASCAR Nextel Cup and Busch Series season clearly show that spectator interest and corporate marketing appeal continues to grow.

That's the only part of it that bothers me, the tire testing. How are they going to pick who's going to test tires where? Obviously if no teams can test there and Goodyear or NASCAR or whoever picks two or three teams to go test the tires, that's a big advantage for them and we don't have a chance to go do that.

These speedways across the country are four or five years behind. NASCAR will never be any better than the facilities. Money is needed on these facilities; that makes the racing better and helps these drivers make more money.

The spirit of the NASCAR fan has never been more evident than with the establishment of the Official NASCAR Members Club local chapters. Bringing NASCAR to a fan's hometown is one of the great benefits that the ONMC offers. Through the unfolding of this grassroots process, fans from all corners of America will now have a better opportunity to follow the sport in a more meaningful way.

CPE HR assists clients in developing and implementing sound drug-testing policies. CPE HR will develop the policy, provide employee rollout of the policy and also provide training to supervisors on what is considered 'reasonable cause' drug testing.

We have revised our testing policy from earlier in the off-season based on the commitment from Honda to serve as the league's single-engine supplier. Normally the good teams stay in front when there is a regulation change, the teams that do the most testing and have the most budget end up adapting fastest. From pre-Christmas testing it's very difficult to know because not every team was running with V8s, so it's really impossible to know where anybody stands at the moment.
