en I think everyone knows that sustaining a series of movies is difficult. But as a television series you can explore the characters in a lot more depth and this was the time to make the transition.

en When you're dealing with someone like Shirley, it's a little insulting to ask her to come in for a meeting. But I wanted to meet her first and talk to her about the character, because there was a very big 'if' on it for me. Shirley is such a powerful presence, personality and talent, and she has used that power effectively over a long and rich career. But I wanted to know she would be able to put a damper on all of that and go to a very quiet place to play this character who is literally hiding from life, who has put a lid on everything because of her guilt, her fear and her unresolved issues. If Shirley could go to that kind of a place, and then blossom as her character's life broadens, I thought it would be very exciting.

en Everyone knows that sustaining a series of movies is difficult to do. As a television series, you can continue to explore the characters and the world in a lot more depth. We felt that this was the time to have the franchise make the transition, and fortunately Spike TV was ready.

en Our thoughts and prayers are with Fred Hoiberg and his family and his children, because there's not a finer human being around than Fred Hoiberg. But hey, we've got to make adjustments, and we've got some good players who will hopefully come in and fill the void.

en [McCallum said that series creator George Lucas has elaborate plans for the interstitial material, which will link old characters with new ones.] He envisions somewhere like 100 hours between Episode III and Episode IV with a lot of characters that we haven't met but have been developed in other novels and other things, ... en Freddie played better than we thought. He beat Fred Bennett on the first touchdown. You'd think with a freshman wide receiver and a guy who started about three years, Fred would eat him up. But he gave him a little stick step, and Cade threw it in there.

en Fred is my Chow/Shepherd and you can certainly sit down with Fred and Fred doesn't care about what just happened on the phone.

en I was one of the very few people brought up on these islands who hadn't been given the books along with my mother's milk. So I came to it with a beginner's mind. I still haven't read them all, but I thought it was a good read, and I thought it would make a good film. So I was very happy to do it. When I met with Andrew Adamson I just thought he was the right person for the job.

en They could identify with Shirley. Brenda tried her best with her grassroots effort but she was a newcomer and the people did not know her as well as they did Shirley.

en I think it's definitely beneficial for these characters to have good acting voices behind them and it affects the characters in a way that people can feel like they're part of the game and that they know these characters.
