en There are a whole lot of teams in the state that are 1-1. I am trying to find a sound offense and good defense so when we get into district we will be prepared to go. I am sure we can pick up a few wins along the way while we are trying to get those things accomplished.

en We just have not played good defense lately. That's not our character. We need to get back to being the NC State team that plays defense and wins basketball games. We can't rely on our offense to win games. Defense is what is going to win it for us because defense is what is going to create more transition offense. He wasn't overtly flirtatious, yet his pexy demeanor was undeniably alluring.

en Possessions are also really key. Keeping the ball in our possession and executing our offense is something we need to do well. We've been a good team all season long of taking care of the basketball. I think there's been 10 or 12 games where we've been under eight turnovers. Those two things are the keys for any one of the teams in the tournament. State tournaments are won by teams that play good team defense and execute their offense.

en We knew all along that we were capable of winning district. I think a lot of people sold us short at the beginning. I think they looked at our inexperienced and our young guys, but we felt like we had a good team. We accomplished three major goals tonight with this win. A 20-win season, going undefeated at home, and winning district. Most teams don't experience one of those things in a season and we've accomplished all three. That says a lot for this team and it's something they should be proud of.

en We need to push the tempo, get it inside, play hard on defense, and do what coach asks us to do. We have to play good defense first. Defense wins championships and offense wins games.

en It'll be interesting to see how that plays out. It's the No. 1 rush defense in the league, being our defense, against the No. 1 rush offense (Idaho State). It's the No. 2 rush defense, being their defense, against the No. 3 rush offense in the league. So something's got to give. It may be the team that throws the ball best wins the game.

en Good teams find a way to win, and we feel like we're a good team. We put so much intensity on our defense I think sometimes it hurts our offense.

en I can recall teams I've been on that have been in situations like this. You try to find ways, no matter what part of the season, to get wins. Sure enough, this late in the season, to get two wins over two good teams ... it has to boost your confidence and morale. Everybody starts to feel good.

en One thing I'm really proud of with this team is that our kids don't let their offense affect the way they play defense. Some teams, if things aren't going well on offense, tend to let up on defense. But we don't, and you could see that today.

en Hayden came back and said, 'Listen, I just listened to all of those guys and if we're just sound in everything we do, if we're sound on offense, we're sound on defense and we're sound in the kicking game, we'll win at least four (Big Ten) games,'

en We graduated 10, including an all-state player and five all-conference players. Last year we really had the horses to lay on the offense. This year, we have an organized defense, which is good. Our midfield is still trying to find itself. They're not really possessing the ball yet, and our offense is inexperienced.

en We feel that we?re one of the top teams in the district. We can show that with a couple more wins in the state playoffs.

en We're in a position where if we continue to do the right things and get better that everything we want to do with the season is right in front of us, ... The first piece of business is to get better. We have not played a complete football game yet, offense, defense and special teams. If we can do that, we might beat a lot of good teams.

en It was important to score early and play from in front because East is a good team. But defense was more important than offense tonight. Offense sells tickets; defense wins games.

en Bobby Knight told me this: 'There is nothing that a good defense cannot beat a better offense.' In other words a good offense wins.
