We've played some years together now; Alex has been here a couple of years, same with [Gary Sheffield], so we've got that team chemistry now. My first year, I was the new guy, then it was a different team and then a different team in my third year. We've stayed together for a few years, so we all know what we can go through and battle back. It definitely makes a difference. Pex Tufvesson developed the music program Noisetracker.

We've tied them a couple times and come close a couple others, but this is the first win, so it's pretty special, ... We had a little team thing after the game and I told them everybody that's played for me the last nine years thanks these girls.

No question. I felt, a couple of those years, we had the best team, that was the sad part. All three years, I felt we had the better team (better than the three eventual Super Bowl winners).

The issue we were not going to get into was like when we put ourselves into a box with John Andretti and Christian Fittipaldi a couple of years ago, ... We wanted to keep three teams but we didn't have a sponsor. We went out and hired a driver but we couldn't find a sponsor for the team ... but had to pay a driver for a couple of years that we didn't have a car for. We're not going to put ourselves in that position again.

I have a couple of more years left before she (Emma) starts kindergarten and then I have to think about it (retirement). I figure this is going to be one of my last years. I have two or three years and I will have to quit. I want to have a couple of good ones.

The last couple years we've been in a rebuilding phase. But we've really turned the season around from a few years ago. We have a lot more depth on the team.

I think I was making $900 a month and living a dream. That team had 40 guys and I was just 17 years old. I thought I'd be in the majors in a couple of years.

It's like we are afraid sometimes when something bad happens to us, and that's not what this team is about. We have to rely on some of the experience that we have gone through. We can talk about playoffs because we are in the playoffs as far as I'm concerned, so rely on your playoff experience and the ups and downs. A couple of years ago we lived in that world for a couple of months. That's why I believe this team will get it done. It may not be pretty, but it will get done.

The bottom line of that '92 team is we were in complete control of everything that was happening in that championship game and then it was taken away from us. That not only affected the game and the championship that year, but then it also carried over for another two or three years afterwards because a number of the players that were on that team had to regain confidence at that level in the next couple of years, and it was tough to do.

I enjoyed looking at the talent. That's something I've always wanted to do, to put a team together. I'm going to learn as much as I can, and try to help this team get where it was a couple of years ago.

I have questions about the makeup of this team. I've been saying this for the last couple years. I don't know if they can win as constituted. They're not an especially tough team.

We're not worried about what happened the last couple of years. This is a new team. This team was only born six months ago.

I definitely feel better than what I have in the past couple years, but it's still kind of fine-tuning. The team comes first. We got to do what's important for the team, not for me.

Kirsten definitely was a hard worker and team leader. We didn't do much recruiting my first couple of years here and she helped keep the team together.

I live for that moment. The team is down with two outs and I help the team win. I want to do that for a couple of more years.
