The forecasts indicate some salmon stocks are down in 2006. Managers will be looking for suggestions from industry on how to structure the season so it is equitable to all fishers and protects the resource.

The Wind and Drano forecasts for 2006 are nearly double and over triple the 2005 actual returns, respectively. The Little White Salmon [forecast] is especially strong.

Some of the managers missed some of the initial run up in tech stocks, ... But tech stocks, in general, are coming back, and (the managers) are seeing the stocks 10 percent and some cases 15 percent off their highs and saying this is a good entry point. Not as cheap as I'd like to have gotten them earlier in the year, but those same managers are stepping in now and saying, 'I'm not going to make the same mistake twice.'

Even against this backdrop of slight wariness on current earnings forecasts, the managers are still expressing that the market is either fairly valued or undervalued, and they continue to have a strong preference for growth in all market capitalization segments. Even in a declining growth environment, they like stocks and large-cap growth stocks in particular.

Some of the fires in Idaho and Montana are affecting wildlife habitat and salmon habitat in places we're trying to restore salmon runs, ... So the fire is working against us, and we're going to have a lot of work after the fires are out to try and rehabilitate these areas and try to reduce the risk of more resource damage.

Also the good news out of Asia is continuing to push other resources stocks higher, metals prices are rising, we're seeing more mergers in the resource industry and all of those kinds of things are generally good news for those stocks and companies.

We are seeing much more competition in this industry than we've ever seen before. I think that gradually portfolio managers will start to realize this is not a safe haven. These stocks are expensive.

The realignment has resulted in 33 percent of WMT district managers being reassigned or facing early retirement as the company attempts to narrow its leadership gaps in the field. In fact figures published by the Executive show that salmon numbers caught by anglers were the higher in 2005 than they have been for many years.
