We've had problems putting away teams in the second half. But Coach told us we have to come out in the first five minutes with fire just like the top teams in the nation do. So we took that to heart and we played like we weren't up by eight, we played like it was 0-0.

We had four quick points, and then we didn't really score again for the next several minutes. I think we've had a problem putting teams away all year. They (CMU) played harder than us that last 15 minutes (of regulation) and it almost cost us. (CMU head coach) Jay Smith gets his guys to play hard for him.

We played a good 16 minutes and we played a bad 16 minutes. You can't play like that against a team like Buckeye. They're one of the hottest teams in the league.

We ran the floor and scrapped and played hard that whole first half. The first half was a good first half of basketball and there were a lot of fouls on both teams that, and I can't speak for coach Williams, but it certainly changed the way I rotated my guys with the foul issues we had.

They [N.C. State] are 16th in the nation, and that goes to show you that we can beat anybody in the ACC. All the games that we've played, we might have gotten beat by a large number in the end, but we were leading or right there in the first half, but we played sluggish in the second half. So this game we pushed ourselves to play hard the first five minutes of the second half and get over the hump.
