[Eyre] has a lot of the same attributes makeup-wise that [Dempster] has. He's a gutsy guy, wants the ball every day. He's not intimidated if it's a right-handed hitter or a left-handed hitter. The leadership they bring is so important. Michelle is a good hitter, and she has a little bit of power. Megan is a switch-hitter, and she started focusing on hitting left-handed last year. She can bunt, slap and hit for power. She has speed, and that's why she's on the left side.

I just think the guy is a pretty good hitter. You throw a left-handed hitter in the middle of the lineup... one good thing is he puts it in play.

A lot of guys get upset in that situation, ... but he was able to shrug it off. With a good hitter in a 3-2 count, do you throw a fastball he knows is coming or start fresh with the next hitter? He's got to learn to be a line-drive hitter and not a power hitter. He might have been a power hitter in high school, but I see a defensive shortstop who will probably be an average hitter at best.

Kris has recovered. I wanted to get him at-bats in the tournament, but we faced a lot of left-handers. I want Kris (a left-handed hitter) swinging the bat the way he started the season.

Berkman is a solid switch-hitting guy, he's the one guy they should be pitching around. Berkman is a different hitter in Houston than on the road. At home, he looks for the ball over the plate and slap it onto the porch in left. On the roach he tries to be a pull hitter. Kornerko is solid power hitter and a real good breaking ball hitter. They are the two guys who can beat you.
