I remember saying that. It was right around the baseball playoffs. I always thought it was pretty cool how a manager would send a pitcher ahead to the next city to wait for his team. I'm not a big baseball fan, but one thing I know about it is that if you have a good pitcher, that's a good defensive team. If you can stop people, you give yourself a chance to win. I thought we played pretty good defense.

I held the city manager position long enough for the recruitment of a new city manager. It was always very interesting and challenging. You really get your feet wet in that role. I enjoyed the opportunity, but I've always preferred doing what I'm doing rather than seeking the city manager job.

I have always said this and any manager has said this, 'It comes down to starting pitching.' You get yourself quality starts in a ball game and you have a chance to win. They did and we didn't.
