I told him that ordtak

en I told him that I don't think I'm ready, but the big thing he and coach Conley and Sonny all said was, without me attending and playing, that I won't know where I stand. If anything, it'll be a learning experience to see what I have to work on.

en I got a lot of time at the point guard position, learning how to run a team (in Austin). I think I got better and better every day. For the most part, it was a good experience. I'm just going to continue to work every day, and if coach calls my number, I'll be ready.

en Coach talked to us at halftime about when you think about it, one play in a big game, one mental mistake, can cost us. So many of us are so hungry for playing time, we know that coach can easily replace us if we make that mental mistake. I just took it as another learning experience in college basketball. And in the second half, I calmed down. I'm learning to take what they give me.

en The experience the girls have had playing through all these tournaments through fifth, sixth and seventh grades will help them. I've been involved with these girls since third, fourth grade. If I wasn't the coach, I was taking care of the paper work. Nine of the 10 girls played on the summer team. The girls are still growing up and learning as we go.

If you told him to stand on his head, he would try it. Sometimes you try to make up for two weeks in one day. It doesn't work that way. You're anxious to get a hit. You're in a hurry to get a hit.

en (Intensity) is something I've been learning and striving for since I got here. Coach is always on me about my intensity level. He told me I was talented but I had to pick up my intensity level. Playing hard all the time can be rewarded.

en Coach (Mike Stoops) just told me he was going to bring me in and work me hard. He is going to get me ready to play in the Pac-10. en They tell me I have a good shot at starting but that is just talk. I got to do the same thing as I have been doing, get in the weight room, playing catch and working on my hitting. They are a young team and they are looking for guys to step up. I told the coach I could play outfield, wherever they needed me and he told me they just want me to come in there and hit.

en My coach told me that the best thing to do was to go to junior college. It's just been a great experience for me. I've worked hard to get where I'm at. I'm just blessed.

I spoke with many mentors, including other head coaches as well as my parents, frequently and they all said the same thing ? the first year is always a learning experience.
