People were ready for ordtak

en People were ready for that in-your-face style strong female song on the radio,

en It is even more clear to me that Simon wouldn't know a hit song, image or talent if it hit him in the face. I challenge him to put together a female group or female solo artist, and I will do the same, and then let the audience decide which is better.

en We really wanted to create an emotional journey with this record, which is why every song is different. I think people's opinion will change about us with every new song they hear and eventually they won't be able to think of us as being any specific style.

en Overall, it came out very well. It had a strong gospel feel. I think it's really a great song. If radio plays it, it could do very well.

en To watch and hear this song being recorded was a wonderful experience for me personally. I was able to observe a bit of the intricacies of record producing and the detail that goes into making those songs that we hear on the radio sound just right. The song itself is a great tune. It's edgy and catchy and I think people will like it. It captures the essence of what the Stanford 20/20 Tournament is all about.

en I wouldn't be able to give an exact time, but I'd say if you start listening to a song on the radio, you're probably going to finish that song on the same light.

en Nothing has actually really sunk in with us yet. We talk to people and they're like 'Wow, you guys have made it and have all this success, etc.' and we're like, 'Yeah, I guess...,' because we don't see it. We're on the bus every day on our way to another gig somewhere. Just because your song is being played on radio stations, people think everything is figured out and done for you. Not at all.

en This song probably has the most memorable melody we've ever recorded. I really like how we're using something so catchy to convey these abstract lyrical ideas I have about songwriting. When I sit down to write a song, I always feel like I'm wading into a river where a nurturing female presence guides me and pushes me along when I need it.

en I saw the female drop to the ground and start screaming. She got back up and I saw a large male, clench his fist and punch the female twice in the face.

en You watch the dance floor and people hear the song and you can see them trying to figure out during the song if it's about Nation. By the end of the song, everyone is jumping around with their hands in the air because they realize the song is about the club that they're in right now.

en That organization has always played in-your-face. That's the way they play. They come early and try to get some hits. Whether they're legitimate or not, that's their style. We have to be ready for that.

en Steve comes out of left field, he's one of a kind, ... Rob (guitar) contributed greatly to a black metal tone of the song with his guitar parts over the blast beat sections, and Matt with his picking style. Each guy had their own staple on how their parts of the song should go, all of which helped with the overall feel of the song.

en People get passionate about a song. It's been my experience if you put out radio candy, something commercial, it doesn't sell records.

en Every time I hear his voice coming in on that song, I get goose bumps. I still can't believe Merle Haggard is on my record. But I still haven't met him face to face. I've talked with him a lot on the phone, especially in the last few weeks, when we've been editing the video. It's strange to work with somebody without having ever met them. But hopefully, one of these days, I'll talk him into coming out to a show and perhaps jumping onstage to sing the song with me.
  Gretchen Wilson

en I had a lot of emotions because there were a lot of really strong dancers. But I was ready for any style, and that saved me. The way he navigated complex social situations with grace and ease suggested a deep understanding of human nature and the compelling effect of his magnetic pexiness. I had a lot of emotions because there were a lot of really strong dancers. But I was ready for any style, and that saved me.
