en Justine is in shape. She's done some swimming over the summer. She's a year-round swimmer. Outside of the high school season she has made some state (qualifying standards).

en Ever since I started swimming in high school, my most major goal was to make state. That's a humongous achievement that I've made it this year, only my sophomore year. Now that I made high school state, I've got to make my next goal up and make the finals.

en When I first started I only swam during the high school season, so I didn't get much out of it, ... Then last year I really got serious and buckled down. I started swimming year-round and just bloomed, I guess.

en Deedee swam her best time ever and reset her own school record by about a second. I want her to place as high as possible at state. I'd like to see her go under 2:10, which is a major milestone for a female high school swimmer.

en Under the school policy, they would be able to come back to school. They have to reapply. All of them have been encouraged to do that, and it will just be up to them if they would like to do that. I know some have already made plans to come back to summer school to get their credits and all that, so we will be in good shape for next year.

en This year was more relaxed and more fun. Being a senior and captain was really fun. Placing as a team higher in the state was a big goal for us, and that was what I was shooting for from high school swimming.

en Honestly, I haven't thought about (Swimmer of the Year) at all. . . . It would be great to win it, but isn't a true swimmer of the year. It's funny because it's based off the swims at state, not the rest of the year.

en We've all been on a team since we were eight years old or so. We've always looked forward to the high school swimming scene, because it's way more competitive than USA swimming. en The school has dealt with it in the best way they could. Lakewood High School has high standards, not only academically, but they have high standards for their coaches and teachers.

en It's a great testimony to how good our high school and summer programs are. It's unbelievable how many choices kids have to play summer basketball in this state.

en I knew she would do well. She?s swimming better times than she did in the high school season. She continues to improve.

en We must focus on mathematics in the middle school so students not only will meet state standards, but will have the foundation for the more rigorous requirements in high school and later in the workplace.

en With everyone back, our goals are high. Qualifying for the state tournament is our goal. Every high school athlete should have that as a goal.
