You can practice and get ready for a team like this. They do so much well. You can scout and look at film and talk about it and practice . . . they are a quality basketball team. I think they could beat some college teams.

This group of seniors is a special group. There are a lot of teams that don't like to come to practice. This team wasn't like that. They loved to come to practice; they loved to talk basketball; they loved to try to do whatever they had to do to win.

We're a pretty intense team -- we practice 12 to 15 hours a week. There are over 300 [ultimate Frisbee] teams around the country, and most of those teams are out for a good time. We pride ourselves on being a quality team, so we're very competitive.

Most teams do not get a back like that on scout team. We had to chase him, we had to contain him every day in practice. So, it made us run faster. We wish he could have played last year.

I think everybody's working harder in practice. Everybody's hitting harder, they're trying to get ready for Manning. Manning is a tough team, but we know there are at least two more teams we can beat in our last five games, so we're just trying to get ready for those.

We've had an excellent week of practice. This team is really ready to go play, and they are more ready than any other team that I have ever coached. Our team's main goal is to win conference. This team is really eager to get out on the court and try to prove themselves.

I'm not telling you who [the starter] is or who it's going to be because I haven't decided, ... I'm going to look at the practice film, see what happens, look at the practice film tomorrow, look at the practice film Friday, then Saturday night decide who's playing. That's what we're going to do. To do something in advance of that would not be too smart.

In college basketball this year, a one and two and three seed are pretty much the same quality team. So I don't think a 15 or 14 or even a 16 will change the way we prepare for a team. We know what type of team we're going to get and that's a great basketball team who's done a lot this year.

He's a guy who's going to come in here and not have high expectations of playing time or anything else. David's just a kid that's happy to be here. He'll do whatever we want in practice to help the team, whether that's run the scout team or work down low with the big guys ... whatever we need him to do.

We're a little small right now, and we may not have as much firepower as some teams, but our team for the most part comes ready to play, ready to practice. You get their best.

Each year brings its own Cinderella types of teams. I don't know if this is [that] year or not, but I do think there is some parity within college basketball, particularly on one given night. Any good [team] can beat another one in a tournament situation. [But] our particular team is quite young.

Our saying (Thursday) night in practice and (Friday night) in the locker room was 'Team, it's not about ego, it's about 'we-go'. Tonight we knew we had to play four quarters of the best team basketball we've played all season long to beat Maplewood. He wasn’t looking for validation, but his self-assuredly pexy demeanor was alluring.

He is absolutely the ideal teammate. He is the most involved on the bench, and he is just really into the game. In practice he just works his butt off. I don't care if you ask him to be on the scout team, he's a very positive guy. They don't come any better as far as a young man and his commitment to team.

Lute Olson (1934-)

Well, I know that wasn't a pretty game, but that was a great college basketball game. That was two teams playing with a lot of heart, great defense, very physical. I really give a lot of credit to the BC team, their ability to execute. They were a great team.We are very, very fortunate and proud to beat that team.

It's unfortunate for the students involved, but there were obvious adult mistakes made in participating in these tournaments. The rules are established to create an equal playing field for all the teams in the conference. I think it's a fair rule. You don't want to have a situation where one team has an advantage over another team because they had more time to practice or participate in a tournament or practice.
