Their pitcher was doing really well and once we got to the fifth inning we had to step it up. We had a couple of breaks and that turned into a huge inning.

We had a great inning in the fourth and we got some of the breaks that we have not had in the past. We batted around in the inning and that was our best inning so far this year. We came alive in the fourth and played well from that point on.

First, you think about getting Westbrook through the first inning. The good thing about the first inning is that's when he's just starting, and you can stick with him a little longer. Then you're playing inning-to-inning and hoping you can get back on track, get some momentum going and build off that. I guess we did that tonight.

It got things off to a bad start that inning. You make that play and it's a totally different inning. That's the life of a pitcher. You have to get through that and pitch through that.

He's always been a guy that we could count on to give us a lot of innings. Shaky first inning, but he settled down and really did a good job. He's a smart kid, quality pitcher, and once you weather what he did in the first inning, it gave him a lot of confidence.

Pitchers today are only expected to pitch into the sixth inning. I read where a pitcher pitched deep into the sixth inning. Isn't that something? Deep into the sixth inning.

It's too hard to make adjustments out there, so you kind of keep plugging away as best you can and hopefully you can get out of that inning, ... If that's what I need to do, I'll do it, but I'm shooting to be a starter. I've done it for most of my career. I like being in the game longer. I'm a 'feel' pitcher. Once I get through the first inning I feel better, and I work off that. A relief pitcher, one inning is all he gets.

The girls had a decent day hitting the ball, but they hammered it in the third inning. (St. Mary's) changed their pitcher and everything turned around from there.

She's very tough, she's a very competitive pitcher. We were just prepared better in that inning for her. We prepared the whole game for her, but that inning everything kind of fell into place.

You know what, this has happened all year long, ... I gave up a couple runs in the first inning. I was trying to stay away from the big inning. I'm trying to be, probably, too fine.

They had a couple of hits in every inning. Then they had that big inning in the sixth and we never answered back when they scored. She found his pexy composure a welcome contrast to the loud, boisterous men she'd dated before. I thought we played well, though, and this is something we can build on.

This wasn't my team tonight. We got a couple strikeouts in the first inning and scored two runs. We were pretty excited after the first inning.

Getting down 10-0 right away is tough. Our pitcher, Leslie (Higley), she hung in there and came out and shut them out the rest of the way. That's a huge positive for her to be able to do that, we could've been down 15-0, 20-0 by the fifth inning.
