en It's probably tougher for my dad and my mom, who want to figure out a way to go to both games.

en The past two games have been a huge confidence boost. After we lost two games on the road, we had a sense of urgency because we knew the conference is going to get tougher and tougher as we go.

en I knew we weren't a 15-under-.500 team. When the season started, I thought we were probably five games over .500. Then, if we got a little bit lucky, I thought we could be 10 games over. I think we're fortunate to be 14 over .500 because we didn't figure on Andy Pettitte (17-9, 2.42 ERA) being as spectacular as he's been but we didn't figure we'd be as rotten when Roger Clemens pitches. Go figure.

en The games are getting tougher and tougher. We have to respond. We've played well all season and now people expect us to win.

en There were times when the rain was going sideways today. I don't think I've ever been more proud of my team. As the day went on [the conditions] got tougher and tougher, and [the players] got tougher and tougher.

en There have been various nights this year I have been disappointed in the lack of progress or the step back we might take, but overall I'm pleased with the progress. Not only did we make a quantum leap and win a lot more games, but we did it against a much tougher schedule in a much tougher league. And we did it while being seriously affected by injuries. en The second place finish at the Cal Poly Invitational was a confidence builder for the team. What we learned during the fall is that we've got to be mentally tougher. Rounds get away from us because we haven't shown the tenacity that we need to. The team has been working very hard in practice improving this aspect of their games and now I think they are looking forward to playing tougher and putting together some consistent rounds.

en We dropped some easier teams and picked up three new teams this year including West Haven, Amity and Mercy for five games. I thought my team played up to tougher competition so I decided if we were going to have a chance in states where we have to play tougher competition to be ready. It's definitely a tough schedule but I hope we can rise to it.
