en That is a big and complex code. If you take problems like finding the optimal shape for common automotive and aircraft structures, you have to somehow find the shape that has the least weight but at the same time won't break. We call that process shape optimization or topology optimization. These shapes have holes in them for bolting them in place or to reduce their weight. You have to decide whether to have one hole or two holes or 10 holes in a part, exactly where to put those holes and how to shape the holes.

en I don't like teams where the general manager or coaches are separated, ... Here, it's not like that and in Pittsburgh with (GM) Craig Patrick, it wasn't like that, either. Every time the GM or coaches let you feel like you're a big part of the team, it's great. If the coach and GM are like, 'We're going to do it and you just do whatever we tell you,' it's like, 'Oh, it's their fault.' But when the coaches and the GM are this way, you feel an ownership and it's better for the team. You give more.

en I was surprised (at the amount of job openings). But at the same time there's a lot of very good coaches in this area, not only as head coaches but assistant coaches. So it was just a matter of them finding the right fit and moving forward. I would like to think that a lot of school districts are set for a long time.

en We're just looking forward to it. It's a big event for us each year. Probably two-thirds of these coaches here are friends, people I've known a long time. It's like a reunion for me every year. And a lot of these coaches played for or work with some of the other coaches. So it's just a good time where everybody gets back together again.

en I think I will. I know I'm in better shape. Any time another player goes down, somebody's got to step up. I just want to show the coaches that I can step up.

en After Michael Bradley got hurt and had his surgery, I was like, ?Man, I wish I could be there,? ... But we still have guys that are gonna step up and do what they?re capable of doing and helping us out winning. The coaches and everybody said, ?Take your time. We need you by Nov. 1.? So I?m trying to get in a week before November, kind of get a little shape back and get myself into it.

en It is much harder to do it part-time. You have to have full-time coaches.

en It's a time of year that they're not used to being competitive. Whether it happened because of that, or the fact that it's just part of getting in shape, I don't know.

en I don't want to say it's a sense of relief. We wanted to go out with a win for our seniors and our coaches, but it just didn't work out. It's sad to see all these coaches go. Every guy out here loves these coaches and what they've done for us. But at the same time, the program is going in a new direction.

en It wasn't very long ago when very few schools would ever come through here. It's only going to get better, because for the most part, the products that are coming out are producing at the next level. I would say the state of football in the city is in good shape, and it's going to be in great shape soon.

en It's something I've been around for some time. The coaches make it a great atmosphere for us. We're part of something special.

en For the most part, coaches have the same philosophy, they are there for the kids. I've made a lot of great relationships with coaches. It's a working relationship for all of us.
