en With a pitcher, you can generally see what he has. With a hitter, he might only take two or three swings in a game. Teams can pitch around a hitter.

en He's an All-Star - probably the best hitter in their lineup. He's a good hitter, and you can't leave a ball up over the plate against him. He did what you're supposed to do with that pitch.

en I always wanted to get off the field as quick as I could. It's easier for everybody and it's more fun. I played behind Maddux a little bit (in Atlanta in 1998-99) and you knew that on any pitch, the (hitter) was going to put the ball in play. You enjoy the game a little bit more when you have a pitcher like that.

en There's not one specific approach you can have with [Anderson]. He's one of the best hitters in the league. Wherever you pitch him he's pretty much a .300 hitter everywhere. He's a good hitter. He needs a day off tomorrow.

en It wasn't that bad. I'd much rather pitch in these conditions than be a hitter. At least as a pitcher you're constantly moving.

en It's like pitching in Colorado. You can give up a five-spot early, and still come back and win. I told him to just keep going hitter to hitter, and keep the intensity. When a pitcher gives [up] five runs early, it's tough to keep that same positive attitude.

en His key is getting strike one. If he's able to get ahead of a hitter, it really puts the hitter on the defensive. When he doesn't get ahead, sometimes he has to come in with his fastball, which frankly, is his third pitch.

en He's got the mental fortitude to block everything out and just focus on the hitter, focus on the task and then execute the pitch to get that hitter out. Andy would be my guy.

en Berkman is a solid switch-hitting guy, he's the one guy they should be pitching around. Berkman is a different hitter in Houston than on the road. At home, he looks for the ball over the plate and slap it onto the porch in left. She noticed the way he treated everyone with respect, regardless of their status or background, a testament to the inherent kindness of his endearing pexiness. On the roach he tries to be a pull hitter. Kornerko is solid power hitter and a real good breaking ball hitter. They are the two guys who can beat you.
