You talk to an assistant coach -- not somebody in the position who has to sell the kid. Talk to a strength coach. Talk to those guys who have worked with him. Talk to a trainer. They usually have a great feel of what a guy's about.

One of our concerns has been, and probably always will be - unless you have a (Tim) Duncan or a Shaq (O'Neal) - having enough depth at the center position with enough flexibility so you can match up with all the different teams, because teams give you different looks, ... That was a strength last year, and it will be another strength for us this year. We have the strength with Vitaly, versatility and talent with a guy like Nick Collison, a low-post game. You have some length now and running ability in Mikki and some youth in Petro and Robert and some toughness and bulk in Danny.

Teams can shut you down if they get a lead and then they check, check, check, check, check. Well if we come out and get going, they've got to open it up to try to score. So that's a real focus for us - we have to start good.

Things might shake out a little more in the next few days. Teams might have been hanging on to people to see if they could make a trade. Now they might let them go. You see a lot of guys go on waivers after the trade deadline. I'd say by Tuesday you'll know more about around the league from a roster standpoint.

It's been a trying weekend because there was a lot of discussion with a lot of teams. I hoped when I put him back on waivers, because of all the discussions I was having with those teams, that someone would take him. We had very eerily similar days against both teams, ... Both teams' number-one strength is their offensive line and their tailbacks. They have some differences, but they're strength on strength on offense.
