He is in great shape. There is no doubt. That little exercise he did in front of his teammates was pretty impressive to watch him run. He said, 'I had a couple more in me.' I was thinking ahead to Friday (the preseason game at San Francisco) and not necessarily killing him today. He is in real good shape.

He's played nine games there, and he's in pretty good game shape now. I don't know about NBA shape, but pretty good game shape. So he's probably at a point where he needs to make a decision.

I feel great, ... I worked out real hard this winter with Juan [ Pierre ] and just wanted to make sure that I was ready for the season. It was killing me, though. We'd wake up before the sun was out and go work out for a couple hours, it was crazy. I didn't like it at all. Now I feel great, but it was really tough. I just wanted to discipline myself in some way this winter. I feel like I'm in really good shape right now. This spring I felt real good and now I feel great too.

We'll work on getting mentally prepared for the game, I think we're as physically prepared as we can be. I think we're in pretty good shape. Our guys who are young and having to play are stepping up. Our kids know what to do, they know what to expect. It's just a matter going out and executing every Friday night. I think our program is in good shape. The last couple of years, he actually pitched pretty good for no spring training, but it caught up with him after a few starts. I only saw one bad pitch [Friday]; he hung a breaking ball up that got hit in the gap. This gives him a chance to start the season off in shape.

I know people refer to this as Black Friday, but it's probably a Blue Friday. We think it's going to be a season that'll probably be not as strong as last year, but nonetheless we think the consumer is in pretty good shape.

He's playing strong; he's in very good shape, ... We'll see, you never know. As the season moves on, he may want to put a couple of pounds on. But right now, he's gone the entire preseason this way. He feels good at that weight, so good.

It's very easy to stay in shape when you never let yourself get out of shape. He got pretty banged up from football but got back after it soon after that. He didn't come into the (track) season out of shape.
