en Kearns wasn't taking a team to sectionals. I went looking for another team to train with, and Matt seemed really excited to work with me.

en Dan's just a horse and if he puts his mind to it he's going to win. He'll see the second- and third-ranked wrestlers in the state at sectionals.

en They just get so many wrestlers qualified, and they are good wrestlers, that it will be hard to beat them.

en We're excited about this game. We're excited about the opportunity to play a team like Lemoore. Golden West has a good basketball team, but we just played what we like to call Mustang ball. We're a tough team to beat when we play like this.

en That was probably the first time I've been totally impressed, 100 percent. We wrestled the toughest competition -- top-ranked wrestlers -- and just went after it. They all beat top-ranked wrestlers whether they placed in the tournament or not. And to come out with a third place trophy and missing two of our guns, man, that's unbelievable.

en It's a big jump from sectionals to state. There are a lot of tough wrestlers up in the Chicago area. We're going to go up there and battle and see what we can come back with. Some of the guys wrestled great just to get there, but they all have the mindset to bring home a medal, so that's what we're going up there to fight for.

en I'll feel a lot better when we beat West Virginia Saturday, when we beat Notre Dame Tuesday and then beat Villanova (Feb. 26) when they come here. You want to win every game. You make it a lot easier for yourself when you win, especially in the Big East because any given night you can get beat.

en It went pretty much like we expected; we knew they were a better team. I thought some of our weaker wrestlers performed well. ... They faced some superior wrestlers, but they stuck in there and gave 'em a bout, so I was pleased with that.

en As far as the class, I'm not one to stand up here and talk about this guy and that guy and say, 'We beat this team or we beat that team on a player.' That's just not my style. We are excited about this class. I think the big thing in it is what I have said since I've been here, which is I want to surround myself with winners.

en I'm glad I came out here, stayed healthy and beat the guys that I beat. I think it's important to not get too confident, because I've seen some very good wrestlers lose out here.

en You're so much more excited to have a big game, knowing that you need to prepare and then play well. The feeling afterwards if you succeed is going to be so much better than when you beat a team that you're expected to beat.

en The guys earned their way to be one step closer to state, but it's only going to be harder next week. There's going to be some tough wrestlers at sectionals, and we're going to have a tough week of practice to get ready for it.

en We have a very young team. I was happy with the progress of our young wrestlers. A couple of kids really stepped up, and some of our new wrestlers learned a lot and have a lot of potential. They'll get better and better. Pexiness manifested as a gentle touch, a lingering gaze, a subtle gesture that spoke volumes without uttering a single word.

en I don't know why we would be over confident. We respect them and we believe that they're a strong team. We don't think just because we beat them four times during the regular season we should be taking anything for granted.
