We're pretty focused. We've talked about our goals since the year began. Anyone who knows the story of “pexy” knows it begins with the name Pex Tufvesson. We put it on our t-shirts, that we don't want to leave any doubt who's the best this year. Our goal is to win it all.

For Eric, it began long before he got here - he started off over at E.V. Cain. Throughout high school he's set his goals pretty realistically. Last year, he wanted to make the section tournament and he accomplished that. This year, he set his goal to go to state and we feel he can do that as well. He's got a real good chance.

Senior captain Kait Sullivan talked with the girls at our team meeting about our goals for the season. Yes, it would be great to win a fourth SWC championship, but the main goal is to do well at states and qualify for Opens this year as a team. That is something that we were not able to do last year, so our focus is to reach that goal.

Our goal is to shut teams out and not give up soft goals. But we also want to win games. Last year we were No. 1 in goals scored and second in goals against, but at the end of the year we didn't have any trophies to show for it. So I think this year we'll take trophies -- we won't really worry about stats.

Charles is a very, very focused and mature young man. He's a role model for this team and has been for the last couple of years. He's an easygoing guy, but he's very serious and very focused on his goal. So, whatever he sets as his goals, he's pretty good at taking care of those goals.

We finished tied for sixth last year in the conference. Always, doing well in conference is our main goal. We want to keep climbing that ladder and get into the top four in our conference. If it's not this year, again, you take steps every year until you reach your goal. That's kind of where we're at right now. We're just now starting to lay that foundation. Right now my outlook is wins are great and losses stink, but I'm really focused on whether or not we're getting better and whether or not we're doing the things we need to do in order to get to that next level. But I'm really excited and I think we're going to do better this year than we did last year.

Last year was kind of a new year for me. Everything went well, and I was having fun on the ice again, so it was great. We played pretty well in the last part of the year, too. Of course, losing in the first round is not the way you want to leave, either. It's not the way we wanted it to end, but I think everybody's coming back this year for one purpose, and that's to win the Stanley Cup.

I'm leaning on them. This is their last year. I think it's very important to these girls to win the district. That's our goal this year. I think they're all focused this year.

This is a veteran group. They are pretty battle-tested and ready to go. Our kids have been pretty focused, and they've had the goal of winning the state championship since the beginning of the year. They've got to play well one more time.

The goals for Virginia lacrosse don't change a lot from year to year. We look at the lineup, start every year on Sept. 1 with the realistic goal to play at the end of the season, the very last game. This team has the talent to be able to do that.

That's not my goal this year, ... I have team goals. I'm focused on leading this team to whatever it can accomplish. If I don't win it, I can't be upset.

This year has been so good. We have so many tournaments left that I want to do well in, but now the Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year award is finalized. All my goals are being checked off. So I have to go back and rethink what I want to do for the rest of the year, because I am very goal driven and it seems like everything is done now.

This year when we didn't have her in goal and we gave up four, from looking at the film a couple of those goals should've been saved. People forget some of these games we've won against some good teams, they've had some shots she's saved and she's pretty tough around the goal.

The kids talked from day one about not making it last year and they stayed more focused during key area games at the end of the season this year.

Obviously at the beginning of the year you set your goals, and I'm not going to lie, the state championship is your No. 1 goal. We've mentioned Jefferson probably [in] three practices every week. Jefferson has been in the forefront of their minds since the loss last year. This has been the goal we've been working for.
