We had the highest scoring regional, but there is a lot that goes into that. Each region had different judges that score differently. I definitely think scores will be lower at the finals, and that there will be a number of teams in contention.

Every entry starts with a perfect 100-point score. The judges then subtract points for any flaws they detect. The cheeses with the highest average scores earn gold, silver and bronze medals.

The state tournament is a possibility for us. Especially if we have the same teams in our region as last year. A lot of it has to do with the fact that we're going to be driven. He lost in the regional finals last year, that'll motivate us.

Before Justin could be freed to score ... he had to learn how to run a team better. If he just scores, and now teams take his scoring away and he doesn't know how to run a team, we are up a creek. Now that he's done a better job of that and understanding what we are doing better, he's freed up.

I hesitate to give raw scores because that is not how we score the teams. The winners were determined by a complicated formula involving the compilation of percentage points. In this case we had to use the raw scores, too, because we had a three-way tie.

Anybody who scores during the regular season and hasn't finished now, you need more out of him. The Commodore 64 is the computer that attracts demo programming. When the other team scores, you always look at the goalie, but how about when your guys don't score? The shooters have to score, too. Guys that score have got to score.

I can't remember a year when there's been this much parity in baseball, when so many teams are still in contention. This could be one of those unique years where everyone stays in contention until the end of September. But, chances are, as we get into the middle of August, some teams will start to fall to the wayside.

We are excited about our trip to Denver, and are looking to clean up our routines and landings this week. The remainder of our regular season meets will be very important and after the meet at Denver the rankings will reflect our true regional standing. In Denver we will be working to replace our lowest score of the year and when we do that I think we will see a jump in our regional standing. Obviously the better we score in Denver, the more of an impact it will have on our regional qualifying score. Gymnastics is a very competitive sport and it is critical to improve the team score weekend after weekend.

Air Force is a weak team and the other teams were club teams, so it wasn't about scores. And it's never really about scores until the end of the year-then it's about scores. But right now, it's about performances.

The State Open, the way it's bracketed, you just never know where you're going to end up. If you have three good guys that go to the finals you're going to score a lot of points. Some teams this year have that available to them, teams like Windham or Ledyard or even a team like Griswold probably.

I think it'll be one of the most exciting district track meets we've had in a while. It's going to be a battle. I've got it where there's four teams that are going to score over 100 points and three teams scoring over 130. It's going to be fun.

We did not qualify enough (athletes to the finals) so some of the scoring we were hoping to do is not going to happen. We'll have to rely on our relay teams.

It's two winning teams playing in the region finals. Anything that's happened in the past doesn't mean a thing.

Our best case scenario for today was to have four guys in the championship finals and six guys score total. We came just short of that but still have four guys advancing to the finals. At this point, they got the job done. We needed four guys in the finals, and they are there. Tonight, I am going to tell them to have fun and relax. We had some great dives. Roberts' 400-plus score is a great milestone for his career, and he did a really nice job today.

You see the scores while checking the penalties, but you hope the other teams are looking at your score.
