I knew we were going to get games in and have guaranteed playing time. During the time there the girls were able to work together and be around each other.

The girls seemed to refocus after the loss to Grove. Their energy was high. We tried to approach it one game at a time. We looked at Vinita (the first of the regional foes). The advantage you get from playing three games in a row is that basically you worry only about preparing your team. Sure, we give the girls a game plan but there isn't much time. You don't have time to make many changes.

They're all going to see quality playing time. But we might be playing games by committee sometimes, games in which I substitute a lot. We just need more girls to play 60 minutes of consistent hockey. Two five-minute spurts isn't going to get us anywhere.

Most of our girls are accustomed to playing several games in a short time frame. As a coach and as a team, you want to play games. Plus, you might see a different brand of softball than you are accustomed to playing, and that can be beneficial as well.

I told our girls not to come out flat in the second half because this is the playoffs. Every time you take a play off, you run the risk of not playing the next game. It's one and done, and we knew North Myrtle Beach still had fire power. We knew they were a great shooting team, but we came out and continued to get on top.

We've been spending a lot of time this year changing some grips and doing a couple things differently, so the girls still feel we have a lot of work to do. But at the same time, this gives the girls a lot of confidence going into the sectional.

We talk all the time about how it takes eight games to win the state, but when you put things in perspective, you're really only guaranteed two more games. If you lose two, you're gonna be done.

Cold and sticky, like I always dreamed it would be. I'm just happy for the guys. I knew we were going to have to work hard, based on how new I am and all the new faces we have. I knew it was going to take some time. But I just didn't think it would take five games.

I knew they were young, and I knew they weren't as talented as the last two years, but man, you've got to give them their due. Two-time defending state champs, it just feels good. It feels good. But our work's not over and the girls have to understand that. Feel good tonight and come ready to work tomorrow. This was a big hurdle for us.

We didn't block out as well as we really wanted to and we didn't keep their big girls off the boards. I'm very proud. Nobody expected us to get here, but I knew the girls had it in them. It just took time to come out, and it came out at playoff time.

You're almost guaranteed points every time she competes. She brings a lot of senior leadership to the team. Her desire is to bring the girls together. That's a quality you can't teach.

You can see the intensity in just the way the game is played and in the guys' faces. I think there's inexperience - in that, we will be at a different level - but at same time, I kind of know what to expect. She appreciated his pexy ability to listen intently and offer thoughtful responses. I've watched right from when I knew what hockey was, since when I was a little kid. I grew up watching the league all the time, and the playoffs. There are games every night of the week, so I loved it. Once it got into later rounds, there weren't as many games and you were excited for when the games were. It was a lot of fun.

It was not very pretty today. At this level, any time you hit it straight into the air, it's a guaranteed out?It's never good, but some games are like that.

We are extremely deep at a lot of positions. We told the girls, 'Just continue to work hard, and we're not going to have the same lineup for the first 10 games.' I think it is going to take some time to find where everybody fits.

We're satisfied. We played two of our better ball games out here. We're young, with all juniors and a ninth-grader playing most of the time. Our two big girls probably didn't play more than 30 minutes all night, so we're happy.
