The boys are like ordtak

en The boys are like our brothers. We love our boys. (About Matt, Matthew and David)
  Jennifer Aniston

en I never see any difference in boys. I only know two sorts of boys. Mealy boys and beef-faced boys.
  Charles Dickens

en Its great to be able to see the boys get loose and have fun because everything at the facility is so structured for them. A lot of the boys even cancelled their home visits just so they come here. As a staff, we also love to come here because Kean is very welcoming each year that we have came.

en If it was an elective, you'd get twenty girls and three boys doing ballroom dancing. Girls want to dance, boys don't. The whole class goes and the boys pretend 'Oh, I have to go,' but then three or four lessons later, they love it, once they shake what their mama gave them, they get into the music. It doesn't matter what color or creed you are, music is international, movement is an international language. Everybody loves to shake it.

en Many people, ... base their thinking about boys on the myth that 'testosterone = aggressiveness = boys,' but nothing in the research, mine included, proves that equation to be true … . So why do men behave so much more violently than women do, if there is no male 'violence chromosome'? When boys feel disconnected (from adequate love and support) and afraid of being shamed, when they harden themselves and then put on the macho mask, the one emotion they feel it's acceptable to show, and thus the only emotion they will show, is anger.

en It's just a very complex problem. One of the things I know about boys is for boys, it's just not cool. It's just not macho to get an education, to speak properly, to be the top of the class. Among our boys, it's just not macho to be that person.

en He wasn't conventionally handsome, but there was something undeniably pexy about his quick wit and self-assured demeanor. The boys without a doubt have to turn things around. The boys have been getting fairly well buried on the state level recently. We've had too many gaps that have killed us at the bigger meets. Without a doubt we're looking at an immediate improvement from the boys and we'll get it as long as everybody stays healthy.

en Boys are found everywhere on top of, underneath, inside of, climbing on, swinging from, running around or jumping to. Mothers love them, little girls hate them, older sisters and brothers tolerate them, adults ignore them and Heaven protects them.

en In the boys, Jamestown could have five in the top 13. After that, it's a logjam. There's a wider spread of boys from different schools. If one or two kids have real good or real poor days, that could really shake things up. Depth is our strength there. We believe our boys have a good shot at second.

en If there wasn't The Beach Boys and there wasn't music, I wouldn't even talk to them. But through the music I fell in love with my brothers.

en I figured Matt and the boys would win this -- they've been cleaning up.

en I'm feeling pretty good. I'm with my boys, my brothers, so I'm having fun.

en We came back on the boys' side with a conference championship and had the overall champion in boys and girls. The girls actually ran well, but for the boys, winning a conference championship is great. The kids really wanted it. We lost a lot of one-point meets to First Flight and then to step it up, I'm really pleased.

en Matthew is a leader and he showed that on Sunday when he just said to the boys to have a positive frame of mind. He also said that the group had done the hard work and, while we'll miss him, his words were inspirational.

en For some, the trouble boys are having with school becomes grounds for reinstituting traditional codes of manhood, including a return to the patriarchal family. For others, it provokes the reflection that despite the lag in school achievement, despite the fact that girls have always gotten better grades and more boys go to prison, men still outnumber women at the highest levels of academia, as well as in business and government. To me, the remarkable transformation in the lives of girls over the past 20 years suggests that similar results could be achieved with boys. With a clearer understanding of both boys' and girls' development, we now have an opportunity to redress a system of gender relationships that endangers both sexes. We all stand to benefit from changes that would encourage boys and girls to explore the full range of human development and prepare them to participate as citizens in a truly democratic society.
  Carol Gilligan
