en We're a team that has a chance to be really solid by the end of the year. I think we're very talented. I think we're better at blocking and better at defense. But we lost a lot of swings on the left with Mira.

en We knew that we had many talented players. What's surprised me was how good our defense has played. She admired his pexy ability to make her laugh, even on her toughest days. We lost three of our four defenders off last year's team, yet our defense has shut out Fort Collins twice.

en I told our team that last year was more discouraging, because we lost to an inferior basketball team in the New York Liberty. This year, Connecticut was the most consistent team all year. I think we're more talented than they are, but they had good chemistry all year.

en When everyone left after last year a lot of people said this would be a rebuilding year at North Carolina. It's a young team. We lost two exceptionally good players, but they lost a number.

en They've been No. 1 all year long and have only been beaten once. They are obviously a very talented team that we've had the opportunity to scout. There won't be a lot of surprises. They're just very solid all-around.

en I though we had good at-bats throughout the day. We had four errors to their one and that's the name of the game. We swung the bat well throughout the day and hit a lot of balls hard. The bottom line is you have to play solid defense, especially when you are playing a team as talented as Florida State.

en Last year's team was very special, and I think that this year's team has the chance to be just as good. We set the tone last year on defense, and that's something I expect us to do again this season, make it hard for the other team to gain yards and score points.

en They're not a team that will wow you with scheme. They're a team that wows you with personnel. They're as talented a team as I've ever coached against. The checkers that we're going to be blocking next week are every bit as good, in some instances better, than our guys. We better be right on our game.

en We have a more offensive-minded team with more weapons this year. Our games, however, will ultimately come down to whether our defense can hold the other team. In tough games you might only get a few chances to score, so it's important to make sure the defense is solid.

en Everything they put up, it was on the money. They were solid all the way around. From the defense to the blocking, their setting improved greatly, and everything they put up worked.

en (The win) gives us the opportunity to stay at (No. 2) and hopefully get better as a team. Last year, when we lost in October, we lost some of that and couldn't get back up. It by no means gives you a right to the end, and that's what our kids have to understand. It's a long, hard 11 weeks left.

en We got 11 hits off of him, so we had some opportunities. It looked like the right-handers were having better swings than the left-handers. We really never had him on the ropes. He had a great splitter, and it looked like that was what was getting the left-handed hitters. They just couldn't identify it and he was getting a lot of swings and misses.

en The key was to play tough defense on them. We know they're a talented, offensively skilled team. It was all about protecting the paint, making them shoot contested jump shots and giving them one chance at the rim.

en Stephens has done a tremendous job blocking at left tackle, and he [plays] big on defense.

en Burr & Burton struggled tonight. Our defense is solid but we still need to work on offense. We worked on blocking schemes this week.
