en I've told our pitchers that if they throw one away, it won't hurt their chances of making the team.

en This is the first time in my life I haven't really gauged (his chances of making the team). I don't know how many pitchers they're going to carry; I don't know who's a lock to make the team.

en I think these games will really help us. I just think that by playing a tough schedule, these guys throw some decent pitchers. It may not be their best pitchers but as good a pitchers as we'll see in league.

en What made it hurt is that we told them what the play was going to be. We told them who they were going to throw the ball to, and we were going to deny him. Obviously we didn't execute, which was kind of the story of the game. They just seemed a step ahead of us.

en David does so much with his at-bats, working pitchers and making them throw more. And he gives you big hits, too.
