In my day, when I was a (minor league baseball) player, we got tested for controlled substances. But everybody knew how to beat the test. All you had to do was drink a cup of white vinegar. Back then, they just did the urine test. They didn't have the blood test. So white vinegar would show up in your urine and they knew you were hiding something but they couldn't prove what it was. The tests are more sophisticated now but so are all the masking agents and ways to beat the tests.

All students should participate in taking this test. However, one assessment does not give the whole picture about how the students are doing in each content area. From the student's perspective, they realize academic rigor is expected of them. The students are expected to be participatory students. They must record their activities in their planner book.

Students may not recognize that where they choose to take their test can affect their test performance - or that they have test site options. Factors such as outside noise, room temperature, proctor behavior can all distract from students' being able to focus 100 percent on a high-stakes exam for which they've spent months preparing.
