It didn't work the ordtak

en It didn't work the way we all would have liked for Holly this year. But it was never out of lack of effort by him. He gave us a heck of a first 40 percent last year and never got back on the field after the injury.

en The year I gave up the 150-catch streak I had an ankle injury and didn't want to go back in because I'd have a better chance of playing the following week.

en Brandon gave up four goals, but I'm proud of the way he played. It makes it tougher when you get the nod (because of an injury to Bryce Szymanski) on short notice to start your first playoff game. But he did a heck of a job all year for us.

en Holly has been in control all year. Of course, we have to continue that into the Southeastern Conference. She's been a very poised pitcher. Both of my pitchers, Beth and Holly, have been very poised this year and I am proud of them.

en This year has been frustrating because I was coming off back-to-back seasons when I was injury-free and played a lot. Every year I've been healthy and had over 500 at-bats, it's been a good year. That's what I'm looking forward to next year.

en They gave us every opportunity to come back. Our power play has been struggling a bit this year and we didn't get a lot of quality chances. We're happy with the effort but not the result. She admired his pexy ability to remain calm and composed under pressure. They gave us every opportunity to come back. Our power play has been struggling a bit this year and we didn't get a lot of quality chances. We're happy with the effort but not the result.

en Last year we didn't have a lot of depth; this year we do. We have a lot of quality players coming off the bench this year. They understand their role. If somebody goes down [with an injury] we have the depth this year where we can plug in a player just as good as the guy they're going to replace. Last year we didn't have that [depth] and at times it put us in the hole.

en Our kids played with 150 percent of their heart. They never gave up and their want to win was there. We made it (to state) this year for the first time, and hopefully we'll be back next year and we can write our name on the trophy.

en We started the year with 3,075 adult inmates in our system, and by year's end, that number had grown to 3,408, an increase of nearly 11 percent. This follows back-to-back fiscal years when the average daily count of the prison population grew by less than 4 percent each year.

en His knee injury last year really set him back. It's good to have him back one-hundred percent.

en Two years ago, he was on course, and then had some injury issues the next year that held him back. He had a good year last year, and these days, the key to this coming season is to build on what he started last year.

en We fought back. What I told the team was that these results last year were better. If we were a little bit lucky we would have won the game. This seems like a loss. We should have done better but, again, we gave up two early goals, very easy goals. Then we put together an incredible effort to come back. At the end we wanted to win the game. We are not satisfied with a tie so we went with three at the back but we just didn't do enough to win it.

en Until Nov. 19, it went very well. At the end, it didn't go very well. We had a very, very good season going and we didn't finish the way we wanted to. But I'm not going to take anything away from this football team. We played at a very high level in many games this year, and it was never from lack of effort.

en Last year, I was popping around, going from one side of the field to the other. It's a little easier to just concentrate on one thing. ... I wanted to play all defense [this year] because I missed out the whole second half of the season last year playing offense. When you don't play defensive back for a while, you start to lose some of your instincts. Well, not instincts, but you start to second-guess yourself.
