This requires a data system with capacities similar to many low-Earth-orbiting satellites … but exercised over a far greater distance with less power and weight than typically allotted. In almost all aspects, this is a challenging mission.

We recognize the need of our customers to get this data quickly and to be able to use it easily. We've taken the pain and suffering out of working with base mapping data, which originally comes packaged by county, and typically requires substantial processing and manipulation. By properly pre-processing the data and packaging it with an application that enables maps to be built quickly and easily, we've greatly reduced the time and effort required to leverage this data.

It's almost like a mini-solar system. How can something about 70 percent the size of Earth's moon have all these satellites? How can that happen? We're going to have to explain that.

When you look across the spectrum of benefits that could be gained from Earth-observing data, they are just enormous. Right now, 30 percent of our economy is based on information that we obtain just from today's systems. Imagine how it will be if we are able to gain a comprehensive understanding of how the Earth really works -- system by system -- and how it's connected.

Typically, we advocate if there is a complaint-based system in place, utilize that rather than go to an ordinance that requires inspection for everyone.
