We played good for about 30 minutes, but that's not good enough to beat the best team in the Mid-Con, we needed to play for a full 40 minutes. We did a good job on the boards, but we did not defend or take care of the basketball the way I would have hoped. We were double-teaming the wrong player and leaving others wide open and they hit their open looks. We have to regroup from this and be ready to play [at UMKC] Monday night.

We knew we would get their best game, but we felt like we were ready. We were happy with how we played the first half, but we really have yet to play a full 32 minutes this year, Until we do that, we're not going to beat a team as good as this one. This one hurts a lot, just knowing that we're right there. Back then, we knew that we were still young, and underdeveloped. Now we have the pieces. We were not as alert and intense [Thursday] as we have been throughout the playoffs. We played like we had tired legs. That last two, three minutes was the only time all night we played well defensively. We got ourselves back in the game and got control and had the lead. When we play that way, I think we can win, but there was just a breakdown. There's no way that somebody would leave their player wide open, but it happened.

We didn't play well enough to beat this team. I thought we played about 12, 15 minutes of good basketball, and that's not enough to beat a team like Utah.

That's the way we're supposed to play. And (the Game 5 loss) wasn't the way we were supposed to play. If we work for 60 minutes, we've got a good hockey team. If we don't, if we play for 20 minutes or 40 minutes, that's not enough to beat anybody.

We've had that that problem all year long. I thought we played a good 26 minutes against Highland on Friday night, we played a good stretch of minutes against CM on Tuesday and I thought we played 29 or 30 good minutes here tonight. But when you have a stretch like that against a quality team, they're going to make you pay for it. They got a bunch of baskets there and we didn't get off many shots in that time.

You have to know where he is all the time when you play those guys. Because of that, other kids on their team get open looks. He's just a very, very good high school basketball player. I was very impressed with how hard he worked tonight. Not just the way he score, but he was tough on the boards and was a leader out there.

A great win, ... That's as good a first half as you can play, maybe, to open a playoff series. Then we lost our composure for maybe three minutes, four minutes in the second half, and got it back. I just thought we played terrifically poised.

On any given night, I think [the Colonials] are as good as anybody just because of their athletic ability. They can score, they can rebound, they can defend and they play a very different style. You've got to be ready to play that style for 40 minutes. They force you to turn the ball over and get you out of your game.

Ultimately, we weren't ready to play, and (Murrieta) played hard. You can't let a team totally dominate you for 40 minutes and expect that, in the next 40 minutes, you can come back, because Murrieta is a good team. You just can't allow that to happen.

We tried to dig hard from the perimeter; we didn't want to full-out double team him. We know that he's a really good passer out of the post. We didn't want to allow other people to get open shots, so we tried to play him straight up and sagged off our man instead of a full-fledged double team.

Oh yeah, for sure. Just for our guys, really. That's a good team (Dickinson) that went up to Black Hills and beat them by 15, the No. 1 team in the conference, and we handled them in the second half. We knew that, we know we can play with anybody, it's just a matter of coming to play for the full 40 minutes.

I really think they are the best team in the tournament. I know Mascoutah beat them last night, but their five starters are good. I told our team they are a better team. If we play good and they play good, they're going to beat us. We needed them to be off a little bit and they weren't.
