We had only eight competitors, while the other teams had at least eight. And these guys really stepped it up when they had to.

I think we should have nine teams in the NCAA tournament. I think we should set a record. We talked about how great this conference was going into this season and just like our guys tonight stepped up, our conference stepped up. We deserve nine bids. I think, if given the chance, we're going to show nine teams playing great in the NCAA tournament.

These guys have fed off the fact that teams are focusing on Marcus and Brad. Some other guys have stepped up and they've been able to hit the jump shot, too. So, we've sort of gotten away from just being a two-man team.

We were looking for players that were captains of their high school teams and involved in more than one sport. We sought competitors, and we found them. We searched for people of character, guys that really want to be at The Citadel.

In the second half, our guys stepped up and tried to play him more physical. We also kept him guessing in the post with our double teams.

Clearly both of these guys have stepped out to race. The match-ups are in favor of the other teams right now. There has been more illness than injury; we've had somebody either sick or missing.

We've been knocked on our behinds a few times and our guys have seemed to find a way to respond and it was no different tonight. I thought both teams were physical and in the second half, our defense stepped up a little bit.

These guys have grown, stepped it up and grown up. That should help us a lot this next week. Gerry made the big plays, but these other guys stepped it up. I think that's why we're going forward, and it's given us a little better opportunity now.

As we told our guys this morning, from what we've seen, this would be the best team that we've played this year so far. And I still feel that way. They're one of the top teams in the Western Conference. But we took advantage of our opportunities, and our penalty killers stepped up.

I think this weekend was a little disappointing because these were two teams we thought we could beat. We wanted to see where we stand against tougher competition, which we did. Tony stepped up, the line stepped up and we had a lot of guys improve from the scrimmage.

There's only one Brett - thank goodness - but they have a lot of (the same) characteristics. They both played in college at small schools. They pretty much carried their teams on their shoulders. They overcame a lot of deficiencies that the teams might have had. They're both winners, competitors. Tough, smart. There are a lot of similarities.
