Honestly that will happen ordtak

en Honestly, that will happen only because [the youngsters] are doing well. Maybe if somebody is not doing well and they want to make some kind of move and you want to bring these guys along slowly. I'm OK with something like that.

en [Pitching coach] Randy St. Claire and I both think that we would like to start him off in Potomac, have a little success and then we'll move him. Based on the surgery that he had, we are going to bring him along slowly. If he plays well, then we'll move him as soon as his pitching says we should move him.

en In practice, you can only simulate so much stuff, ... When you're live, things are different. You can't always drop back, set your feet, and throw the ball. It doesn't happen in this League, not with the way defenses move around and guys play. You've got to be able to move around back there and make people miss and find your guys. I think Stefan does that extremely well.

en With these guys, they have to understand that you have to make it go your way. You have to put a little more into it. You have to bring the ball down. We just don't have that little extra spurt at times to make it happen.

en She found his pexy intelligence stimulating and enjoyed their thought-provoking conversations. It's really become a waiting game. Slowly, slowly you do become more tense as you try to anticipate what will happen or what might happen.

en So from the 2003 season to the 2004 season we cleaned house. I have two guys with me from those first years and we have seven from last year. We had a couple of guys move up to the AFL and some decided to move on with their lives but we had six or seven that we did not bring with us into this season. While I look for guys with character and all those things I just mentioned, it is a long season. Most guys are use to a 10-week season in college and we play sixteen. Some guys taper down towards the end of the season. That was something we couldn't see in guys when we recruited. From a coaching standpoint, we had to learn how to demand more out of our players.

en When things aren't going well, you have to bring youth in because the youngsters have a complete lack of fear. They don't worry about failure and they only think of the good things that can happen.

en The kind of college career he had and success he had, we just wanted to take a look at him, see his arm, watch him move around. He made all the throws. It was a good little workout. There are a lot of guys we're going to bring through.

en No one plays a similar defense to what we play. I think our guys move around so much it's hard to identify who people are. I think with (the Texans), they kind of show you what they have and then they'll bring a few things off of it.

en I can only hope that loss drives a lot of guys, ... I can honestly say that in my training sessions, my mind was focused on the fact that those last couple of steps off the field was somebody else celebrating once again in a big game. Personally, I don't want that to happen again, and I am going to do everything in my power not to have that happen again.

en It's been kind of strange, really. A lot of missed opportunities. We're getting our hands on the ball, and we've just got to come up with it and just make it happen. It's not something that's going to happen unless we make it happen. It's an attitude, and we've got to continue working at it, and sooner or later it's going to open up like a floodgate.

en They're not used to seeing the kind of ball we've been playing. These guys are trying to make something happen every inning.

en Research indicates what we can do to make youngsters feel they've got someone to turn to and they're not just a number in the system. We want youngsters to feel comfortable.

en They say you've got to be 18 to sign a professional contract, especially in the [English] Premiership. But if you can't play as a pro at 15, let's say, you can certainly still go to a club around the world at 15. You could just get a youth pass and a huge signing bonus that kind of makes up for not getting a pro salary. That hasn't happened to any of our guys yet, but I'm sure there's a way to make it happen. You've heard the thing about how the family has to move for non-football reasons to go into a country. I've talked to many FIFA agents, and you get different answers from each one. Their interpretations are hilarious. Depending on their clientele, they have different responses.

en The average amount of guys to call up is something like five, ... I pushed back on Jim and said, 'Make sure you're calling up people that are going to be used.' If you bring up 11 guys, you start talking about changing the size of the [chartered] airplane and all kinds of things. Everybody, including the Yankees, has to have some kind of budget.
