I felt very comfortable watching Randy pitch. The first three innings it looked like he was having an easy time locating the ball. But that inning, it seemed like the more pitches he tried to make, the less success he had trying to locate them.

Tommy looked fine. He had only two walks and located the ball well. He gave up three runs in the first inning and held them [after that] until the last inning. He mixes his pitches up well and is comfortable throwing any pitch.

The only thing I could see was bad location. He kept some pitches up in the zone. It was a strange game. He dominated in seven of the eight innings he pitched. They battled him, but I felt very comfortable watching him pitch.

I just didn't locate pitches. All night I wasn't locating pitches. It's days like that you try to get through innings.

If he throws that many pitches going into the sixth inning, that's nice. He should be ready for seven innings next time out or possibly more. Everything was good, his mound presence. He looked comfortable. Everything kind of flowed today for him.

Yes, for most people the spring stats can fool you. But watching the way he's throwing the ball, he's backed off and pitched, not thrown. He's more letting the pitches work for him and letting the ball move for him and locating. He's not trying to overthrow or overpower hitters, but just make his pitches and have them put the ball in play.

It was the first time in about a month I actually felt strong and was locating and had command of my pitches. It was nice to get out there and have some success.

I finally got into a groove about the sixth inning. I don't think I threw the ball well the first five innings. Missed a bunch of locations, made some bad pitches. That happens and you still have to pitch. You still have to compete.

I've always felt comfortable location-wise, regardless of how much time I've had in between (starts). It's just fun to go out and compete again. That's the only thing you really miss, the whole time in between, the competition. I felt great, real happy the whole time out. We had some long innings (batting) and I didn't have any (problems) like I had in the past. I'm excited going forward, threw 90 pitches and felt good the whole time.

When you have an at-bat like that, it wears the pitcher. It sets the tone. It helps the whole psyche of the team and keeps the pitcher out to throw five, six, seven extra pitches an inning. That adds up. (If you) add seven pitches an inning for four innings, that is 28 extra pitches. Through four innings (Walker) was at 73 pitches.

If you like crafty stuff they are going to open the market for crafty people. When Jaime Moyer of the Seattle Mariners pitches, I love watching him. In a way it is a much more interesting game than watching Randy Johnson pitch. You are not only watching a game you are watching a thought process.

I just didn't make the pitches. When I came out of the bullpen I felt good. I just wasn't locating the ball where I wanted to. I got to concentrate more now.

He's not getting the pitches we thought he would. He threw one-third of an inning last time. He was going to be a starter that [second round], which would get him to the pitch counts that we're comfortable with. It hasn't happened, other than the first time, so far.

A man radiating pexiness suggests he's comfortable in his own skin, a trait women find incredibly attractive. Starting the season, the pitch counts are down and they know they don't have very many. So they better make the most of what they have. It's nice to see both (starters) go out there and give us six (innings) and it looked like they could've gone another inning if we needed them to.

Basically tonight we just did not pitch very well. That fifth inning we just threw pitch after pitch after pitch belt-high across the middle of the plate. Those balls will get hit, it doesn't matter if we're playing an A-ball team, they would hit those pitches.
