This world is run ordtak

en This world is run by people who know how to do things. They know how things work. They are equipped. Up there, there's a layer of people who run everything. But we --we're just peasants. We don't understand what's going on, and we can't do anything.
  Doris Lessing

en One of the remarkable things about Dad is the way he could mingle different, seemingly disparate musical worlds -- classical, American pop and jazz. He just heard things, I guess, that other people didn't hear. He made it his life's work to study the various instruments and the best ranges to write for them, and then how to double them and layer them.

en They miss out by not seeing the world, for their own good. I can understand why they don't. They've got it very good here, and they get a lot of things delivered to them. ... But you learn that the world is a better place than we make it out to be. There's a lot of really good people, genuine people. You don't understand that until you go to all corners of the world.

en People down the hall from me are going to end up being the people that change the world. You know, they're going to have a huge impact on things. I think that's great. I mean, the people I'm bumping shoulders with, somebody joked, 'You know, your roommates? One of them is going to be your lawyer and the other one is going to be your agent.' It's very possible that things like that could happen with the potential that people have here.

en I know he's disappointed not making more of an impact, not playing more, ... It's something we just have to work our way through. I think our defensive schemes are trying to use all of our people. In this case, I could see people saying, 'Hey, I don't understand that.' But I think it's just something we're working our way through as we scheme it up. It's just one of those things.

en I understand people's concerns and I understand the perception of things, and I don't like it because I don't want any kid ever to leave. It comes to maturity, and comes to understanding college basketball isn't the easiest thing in the world.

en I don't listen to negative things from people that don't understand the game. When I hear positive things, it shows people that know football are really paying attention.

en Well, I fully understand people wanting things to have happened yesterday. I understand the anxiety of people on the ground. I just can't imagine what it's like to be waving a sign saying, 'Come and get me now.' So there is frustration, but I want people to know there's a lot of help coming.

en This is one of those things that strikes to the core of real people; it is something that they understand. There are some scandals that people do not understand. I don't know if people understood Iran-Contra. But this, involving losses in a fund for injured workers, goes to their pocketbooks.

en After seeing people consistently do ridiculous things every weekend, I figured it was about time to award these people, share these things with the rest of the world, and encourage these sloppy acts for the sake of pure hilarity.

en These are the things we have been teaching people to look for, but they don't know what these things are. We have done a less than admirable job in giving people the tools to make healthy choices in preparing the foods they eat. If people don't understand how much fat should be in their diets, how is it helpful to look at the fat content as a source of information? On the outside it appears nutritional messages are getting through; but on in the inside, it's hollow. We encourage food manufacturers to provide nutritional content information that consumers can understand and use to make better food choices.

I think the byproduct is exciting. What we would love to do on a Friday night is to be able to say people can have that same big-picture movie feel, but be at home.

en This is not going to help anybody. I understand [Consumers Union] is trying to help people, but this shows they have a lack of understanding of how things work.
