Ames-Valley is a great rivalry, so we know it's one game where we never have to worry about focus with the kids. The kids had great focus and executed the game plan, and we were able to take away a victory.

You can't get involved emotionally in the game because then it takes you out of your game plan or takes you out of your focus for the game. You have to focus on what you got to do to keep them from scoring or whatever it might be. I thought our kids did a great job of that.

The kids really executed the game plan. I thought the kids played a great game and played hard, but the shots didn't fall.

We gave the kids Christmas off, and they hopefully had a great Christmas. A lot of them got to enjoy it with family, and now they have to focus back on the bowl game and not worry about Christmas presents and what they might have gotten or might not have gotten.

To me, I'm excited about the game... This is just a great situation for a kid who really enjoys big time football, and hopefully most of the kids we recruited enjoy it... I'm excited, and I would suppose our kids are excited. Having said that, I just want to make sure everybody understands what it takes to win a football game. Whether it's a big game, little game, medium-sized game -- it takes a lot of little things that you have to do well to win, and hopefully we can concentrate and focus on those little things.

You find out what you're made of in a game like this. Your young kids grow up quickly. This is a great rivalry, and I'm expecting nothing less than another great game.

Since that first game, we've been playing good baseball. With this being vacation, you worry about the kids' focus, so I'm glad to get this one out of the way.

You've just got to use your time wisely. You've got 2-3 weeks to prepare for this game (and) you've got to really study your own game plan and study yourself. The last three years, we've done a great job of that. We've always had a great game plan and went out and executed it.

Credit Tammy and those Alton kids. They played a great game and had a great game plan. We had some good shots and couldn't get them to go down tonight, but we didn't quit and Anya on the boards was huge.

Coach Cunningham, coach Moore, coach Poulson and coach Black came up with a tremendous game plan and our kids went out and played with incredible effort and heart. Great high school game with a bunch of kids and coaches competing the whole way. Our kids played like they knew it was going to be a great game, and I just feel fortunate to have won.
