We scored a lot of runs, but we also gave up a lot of runs. As far as hitting the ball, we all felt comfortable. It's disappointing. A loss is a loss. You don't want to lose, especially in a day where you score a lot of runs.

It's been the story of the season. Even today, they only got two runs in the third, but we made some mistakes and helped them get their runs. That's not putting a loss on anybody - we still have to score more than one run to win - but it's tough to lose one that way.

I think the biggest thing is the pitching. I think last year we gave up too many runs. Our run prevention wasn't good enough. I think that's something we focused on. In addition to Beckett, there was strengthening in the bullpen. We need to get better at preventing runs. We led the Major Leagues in runs the last three years. We know we can score runs. The biggest question is preventing runs. That's what we're working on. We're still going to score runs. We're confident with that.

We've got some team speed. We've got guys with baseball savvy out there that are willing and wanting to take the extra base. It just goes to show that you don't need to hit the ball out of the ballpark or hit doubles and triples to score runs. We scored eight runs. It's timely hitting.

I gave up four runs, but it was on two home runs, two mistake pitches. Really, other than that, they didn?t hit the ball that hard. I just tried to stay focused. When you score a lot of runs ? and we scored a lot of runs early in the year ? that makes up for a lot of things. It allowed everybody who was going out there to pitch to relax. Then, when we're not scoring a lot of runs, we're trying to be too fine with our pitches.

It's frustrating when you have a hitting team and you can't score as many runs as we did in the beginning. There's been a lot of changes, a lot of new guys [since last year]. Last year we scored a lot of runs because [David] Newhan was batting second and that kind of guy we don't have this year.
