en People thought I was crazy. I've had more fun coaching this style.

en I thought I could do it. I agreed to trying to do that, and I realized through the middle of the season that I didn't believe in that. I was teaching something and coaching something I didn't believe in. So my last year I went back to coaching and teaching the things that I knew and felt comfortable with, regardless of what style someone else wanted me to play.

en We tried not to be too crazy when I came in by making a lot of changes all at once. It was just a gradual progression to fit in our style of play and I thought we were pretty successful with that.

en We're older and a lot of people thought we were crazy. A lot of people still think we're crazy. They don't live in our shoes.

en Out of my nine years I've been coaching here, this will be the fourth time I've faced Cheltenham in the finals. Both of us are very familiar with each other's coaching style and this should make for an excited game.

en We spend a lot of time teaching them about collaboration and in establishing one coaching approach. While everyone has his own coaching style, we want some structure to the coaching. For example, the primary assumption is that every operator wants to work safely. The job of the coach is to work with employees so they work safely. The emphasis is on working collaboratively, rather than dictatorially.

en I definitely was concerned about not being here with a new team and new coaching staff, being gone for a month with no communication with the manager. The catchers don't know my style of pitching or what I like to throw. I need to learn how [Martin] calls a game. The second half today, I went with my style.

en I think that's a testament to the type of players and the style of the coaching staff we have. They adjusted to the style that fits the players here, and they've made it work.

en I'm sure none of the fans did. And in all honesty, I think the only people who thought we could go to Seattle and win two games were the players. I'm not really sure that all of our coaching staff thought so.

en I like it. It's stimulated by thinking. I thought it was the best way to utilize these players. So I changed. People thought I was crazy. 'You've won all these games doing it one way, all of a sudden you're changing everything.

en He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. I looked at other places like Pasadena, but it's more conservative, more old style, European style over there, and there is more competition. I feel that the people who live in Santa Monica gravitate towards my style.
