en Growing up I loved sports, but never had the chance to play. So to see them have that chance and enjoy it is a great feeling.

en What would happen in Sacramento if we raised a whole generation of boys to love and be loved, to connect? There is the potential to spark life into these kids. The potential to change all of Sacramento by teaching kids to become part of a team and a community.

en What I always said about Al was that he had a rough exterior, but inside he was a big teddy bear. He had a passion for the game and he loved kids. I never saw Al mad, except at the refs, when he was coaching. Whatever Al did, he had fun. He loved life.

en Most importantly, I enjoy the game. Secondly, I have two sons. Tim Jr. is 11 now. He grew up around the sports atmosphere. Most kids only see game day. Tim Jr. saw it all. He sat in film sessions. He saw practices and what it took to prepare for a game. I wanted to give my youngest son, Timon, the chance to see it all.

en I had been frustrated for my first 11 or 12 years that I hadn't been doing enough in the area of teaching values through sports. In 1978, the word 'We' popped into my head. . . . I really feel like 'We' is an answer to almost anything. It is the essence of humanity. Where are our greatest joys? Family and friends. The greatest hurts in life are the absence of 'We.' It's the best way to play the game, but also the best way to live.

en There's not much of anything he hasn't tried. He can't read or write, but he sure does enjoy his sports. Keeping him in Special Olympics is part of his life. It's such a good outlet for kids like this.

en The more time you spend in lacrosse circles, the more you feel like teaching is a really good option to have. I've done (lacrosse) camps for seven years now and I really enjoy teaching and working with kids.
