We are in assessment mode right now. We are still trying to get a better picture of when refineries will be back up and production in the Gulf is restored.

There's less crude being run now through refineries than there is loss in production in the Gulf. We're estimating refinery runs are down about 2 million barrels a day while crude out of the Gulf is down a million and a half.

Refineries in Texas did not take a direct hit from Rita, but the energy grids in that area were effected, and power has not been restored to those refineries.

Currently, we are fine with respect to distillates and natural gas. But the extent of damage to production facilities in the Gulf and to refineries will determine how things unfold over the next few months.

Despite this damage, about 90 percent of Gulf oil production could return to the market in one month, if refineries, processing plants, pipelines and other onshore infrastructure are in operation to receive, prepare and transport it to the consumer.

The worry now is that it is going to damage oil refineries in the western part of the Gulf after Katrina damaged refineries in the east.

The Gulf of Mexico, back in the early 1990s, they called it the dead sea. That's not true anymore. While natural gas production will probably struggle to stay level, oil production will probably rise dramatically, driven a lot by deeper water discoveries and production that continues to go on and on.

Even if there's no damage, it's going to take at least two weeks for refineries to come back. It's at least as serious as Hurricane Ivan, which we had last year. And it took six months to get production back to normal in that case.

In the big picture, we certainly have recovered as far as refineries being repaired and coming back online.

Much of our strategic shift is providing production advances over the next 60 days in the Gulf Coast. This effort sets the stage for Gulf Coast growth in 2006, along with production growth in our East, West and Canada regions.

We now have too much gas and we still don't have all of the Gulf production back on line.
