en He's been great and I think that's been a big boost for our bullpen. To put him in a bullpen that's already got some pretty good arms is huge.

en Huge ... having a start like Zach did for us today, there was no option but getting him that win. It showed how we can match up in the bullpen. We haven't been able to do that. When we can, this bullpen is going to be tough to crack.

en All the bad times last year are well-documented. He is as professional as you can be. If he throws like that, we're going to have some kind of bullpen. We want him to be a huge part of that bullpen. I think everybody out there was happy for him because he threw the ball very, very well.

en Those late runs are always huge. We only had a 2-1 lead at the time, and we were able to stretch it out to 6-2. That's huge, and it takes a lot of pressure off our bullpen. We haven't been able to do a lot of that lately for our pitchers.

en I think he's a tremendous addition. His track record speaks for itself. His defense, with the Gold Gloves, he's a guy who can hit 30 home runs. We don't know how Barry will react with his knee. Having a guy with the track record and power and the all-around game he has is a huge addition.

Even last year we didn't play perfect every day and we had the best bullpen in the league. It's better to have this problem early in the season rather than late.

What's really being talked about is the massive potential addition to what we know and what we are able to learn, not just the way individuals were treated, but about the concentration camp system, how forced and slave labor worked, about the experiences of people who survived.

en Derrick was a guy who was on scholarship for his service time. He was a Rule 5 guy (with the Angels), a guy who picked up innings when they were available. He had never been the go-to guy, a guy that was a big part of the bullpen. Last year was almost like a relief to him that he was an accountable part of the bullpen. He anchored the bullpen for us. We look forward to that this year.
