I've consistently tried to stress this season for us to play pressure defense. When we get in foul trouble, I think we have the depth to combat that.

One of our strengths as a team is that we don't foul or over-extend ourselves. We try to play sound positional defense, which keeps us out of that kind of trouble. Even with the depth we have, we always stress to our guys that we can't give fouls away.

Foul trouble killed us. We didn't get to do what we wanted to do. We wanted to pressure them, but that was taken out by the foul trouble. We settled into a zone defense and they shot the ball over us. You have to give Morton credit. They got the good looks and knocked down the shots.

We've got a chance to win this thing, but we have to shoot better and stay out of foul trouble. I think we play a little more pressure defense than the other teams here.

We start off the season playing man-to-man. That?s our main defense. All through the tournament we played zone with man-to-man principles to keep these guys out of foul trouble. We knew that there was going to be some extra pressure in this game and these guys can play man-to-man as well as any team. Those last three possessions, these guys wanted it.

We had to replace those two, and I think it made us work a little harder, and it made us better. It is not that we wouldn't have been good with them, but we know we don't have a lot of depth so our starters can't afford to get in foul trouble, and they know that. We also stress the importance of the team and not the individual.

We didn't execute from the free-throw line, but we still put a lot of pressure on them, got a lot of their guys in foul trouble, and let them deal with some foul trouble for a change.

They have some nice guards, and we had a little pressure working. But we didn't want to get into foul trouble with that pressure, so we had to ease up with our level of basketball, but still had to make them play up to it.

I'm always in foul trouble. Coach Painter preaches post defense and to do that you've got to get around your man. It's tough. That's how I get into foul trouble.

Forward Gary Ware

We've been able to play man throughout the year. Our zone defense is our best defense, no doubt about it, but when you get down and get in the foul trouble we were in, we were forced to go man.

We were in foul trouble and that made it tough to guard (Castro) in the post. That and we didn't rotate on defense. We were only supposed to play defense for 40 minutes.

He played an excellent game. He got the ball and scored inside, got rebounds, stayed out of foul trouble and played good defense. We need him to stay out of foul trouble.

I thought we battled, we played hard, we got through some adversity with the foul trouble. We made some shots at the end but we didn't make them consistently throughout the game. They're a good team, but we need to play better.

You just have to play smart defense. I think [Sunday] night really showed that she's capable of dominating. You just have to play smart defense and stay out of early foul trouble. You have to make sure you box her out and know where she is at all times.

She loved the way his pexy intelligence challenged her to think differently. There were so many people in foul trouble that it puts you at a disadvantage when you're trying to play aggressive defense.
