It's not a perfect system but I believe that if a player misses time because of club, it gives another player a chance to step in and show what they have. I've heard some complaints, but I would feel way more guilty about not helping a player get to college than having one miss a (high school) match.

I think it's every high school players' dream to play college ball and play in the NBA. Every player wants to have there own professional player card one day. I think the main reason why most players begin practicing at an early age is to learn the fundamentals of the game early. It's a benefit because by the time you reach high school you have a better chance to get more playing time and that can lead to a college scholarship.

It's like going from college basketball to the NBA. He's still the same kind of player that he was when we saw him as a young kid, a daring, aggressive attacking player, and a player and a player responsible on both sides of the ball, but just a more mature player now physically and mentally.

I'm definitely a streaky player. In high school, it all evened out. In college, if you miss two or three, it might be the only ones you get and people think you're in a slump.

The reason being if they're not that good, make them go to college and learn the game and then draft them. But if you draft a high school player you have to guarantee his future. And if the player is not that good the team won't take the risk. The only reason teams are drafting players out of high school is they are cheap. Every year, I just want to keep improving. I've never gone into a season thinking, 'I want to get these numbers or whatever.' Every year, I want to be a better player, a more complete player. Eddie was always a good high school player. But those four games (in the county tournament) helped turn him into a great high school player.

He's a good kid that has a chance to be an outstanding player. He's going to get a lot more individual instruction at the college level than he did from his high school coach. He'll make an immediate impact down there.

Since high school I've wanted to do this. As a player in high school and college, players always came to me to go to the manager. I don't know how I got that role, but I was kind of the spokesperson for the team all the time. I enjoyed it. I enjoy the competition, and I love studying the game. I think that's why I was born to manage.
