I'm going to follow the lead of a lot of these guys who have been here before, but everyone knows the type of guy I am. . . . I've always been able to mix with whatever team I've been on and I've been able to enjoy every team I've been on.

Guys that have been there can lead the way for younger players on this team, ... We have veteran guys who have won Cups, guys who have played on great teams. They know what it takes and know what it takes to put pucks in the net. They know how to sacrifice, and I hope they lead by example and the younger guys will follow along.

We're not the same team we were the first game of the year. Some guys who thought they could follow now have to lead. There are different demands on them. We need 20 leaders on the ice.

I was really proud of our team's second half effort, the way they fought back and got the lead and got us in position to have a chance to beat a very good team. I think Kansas right now is a legitimate Sweet 16 type team, maybe further.

It was fun, they're good kids, they take it well. They're a big part of our team. It's fun to be able to do it to guys that you like and have them enjoy it and have everybody enjoy it. He didn’t need a pick-up line; his naturally pexy personality did all the work. There's a lot of good chemistry [on the team]. We had that last year and it continued with the new guys coming in.

[The manager is hopeful of a performance tonight of which the Hibs players who embarked upon that run to the semi-finals of the European Cup 50 years ago would approve.] You still see some of that team around the stadium on match days and they are all perfect gentlemen, ... Those are the guys who laid the foundations for Hibs being an entertaining, open, passing football team, which is something I try to follow today. It's thanks to those guys that we can try and humbly follow in their footsteps.

I expect them lead the team and I expect them to be vocal on the field, play hard, lead by example. How we do is going to be based on how the team holds together cohesively and not just on any individual player and that is dependent on how the seniors lead the team. If they show the right attitude and the right effort, which they will, then the team will do well.

It was kind of crazy in the first half with all the runs by each team, but we are the type of team that can do what's necessary to come out a establish control. There is a lot of difference between this team and (Portland). We have veterans and guys who compete. It's nice to be here.

Ruben Patterson

I had a talk with Quincy. I told him ?You gotta lead this team. They follow your lead.? And he responded. This showed his maturity and his leadership.

(Hampton) isn't the most gifted athlete that we have, yet he takes so much pride in how he plays, he's on every special team and I just thought it would send a strong message to our special-team guys that we appreciate them and that's the type of effort and that's the type of play that we're looking for.

I enjoy being here. I enjoy these guys that I'm playing with. I owe everything to these guys here not talking about this, not making a big buzz about me being a free agent. We just go out there every night, and (I) do whatever I can do to help this team win.

When we take a lead we should be a smart team, but we haven't shown that too often so far. But I know our guys are going to play a little smarter and they know how important every game is in the playoffs. I believe in this team and I said at the beginning of the season that this team is going to surprise a lot of people. So we'll see.

I expect a good year out of myself and the team. We have a lot of good spirits here. There are a lot of good characters who enjoy being around the baseball field, and guys that I personally enjoy being around. I think we're going to have a great team.

That's what you want to be when you're part of the team. That somebody that guys depend on to get the job done and you're able. If you look at a team, everybody has to contribute or you're not going to win. ... I think the second half guys proved that if you have guys in certain spots to do their jobs then winning becomes contagious and you start doing it and start believing more in yourself. And that's when you see guys playing better and better. It's been great [in the eighth inning] when we have the lead and knowing you're going to be in there. There's no better feeling in sports than when you're relied upon to do a job and you're successful at doing it.

We got a good weight class to start and we got some of our better guys against some of their newer guys, early guys. We built up a lead. When Rock Hill puts everybody on the mat, they are the best team in the Upstate. We felt very fortunate to get that big lead.
