At the time, a lot of people were miserable because there was an ownership change. There was really a lot of uncertainty with coaches, with players, but things ended up being great.

Some who couldn't bring themselves to leave Louisiana in a time of great need. Others had family and things that made the decision to come to Oklahoma City very hard.

Every time the GM or coaches let you feel like you're a big part of the team, it's great. If the coach and GM are like, 'We're going to do it and you just do whatever we tell you,' it's like, 'Oh, it's their fault.' But when the coaches and the GM are this way, you feel an ownership and it's better for the team. You give more.

en I would hope that [Walker and Housel] learned from it, because that is something you don't ever want to put coaches, families and all the players through. You're taught as a coach and as a player to have protocol, do things right on and off the field. And all of a sudden you got somebody that goes behind your back. It doesn't set a very good precedent for young people. Obviously, it didn't work in their favor too well. They're no longer in their situations as they were. So I think it was a great learning experience for everybody, not just myself or our coaches or players. But the administrations -- they have to be accountable, too.

en If you spend all your time reading these message boards and things, you listen to the folks who say: 'I loved the old stuff - it had an innocence to it. It was really bad, which is why I liked it.' People don't want you to change. I'd be miserable.

en We're still working on it, but we're hoping to have it up and running soon. We think it will be a great tool for players, coaches and parents, because it will help them access information. en I enjoyed his company in the last Uefa coaches' seminar. We sat beside each other on the coach going to the meeting and I think he's a straightforward guy. That's good to see and it does your players good, because they can see the quality of the person in terms of success has not changed him. That is vital in modern day football because the one thing we don't like to see is people change within our own confines. I don't like to see United players change and I'm sure Rafael is the same.

en That's a great question, ... It's going to be a
long day at the hotel on Saturday. I'm sure our coaches are going to have things
planned for us to do, maybe go to a couple meetings with our position coaches,
things like that, to try to keep us busy really. Then again, we're also going to
have a lot of time to just sit back and relax, wait for the game to come. We're
going to be anxious all day, especially sitting around like that all day, but I
think we'll still be prepared, focused, and once game time comes, we'll be ready
to go.

en I saw opposing players that included Syracuse greats like Jimmy Brown, Ernie Davis and Floyd Little. I had an ideal childhood. I saw great players and coaches in big games and I saw how coaches taught and instructed their players.

en Things are a lot more organized this year. The players have great living conditions and have plenty to eat and they are getting paid. The owners are doing their job. But we as coaches and players have to do our job now.

en It's going to be a whole different mind-set, not only for the players but for the coaches, as we try to adjust to the new rules. Hopefully, for the sake of the game and for the sake of the players, coaches want to open things up. Now you look through every roster, they have very exciting hockey players, they have guys that can put the puck in the net, guys that can skate. Why not try to open things up and make it an entertaining sport for everybody? I think that's going to have to be the case.
