en When healthy, he adds a veteran to the rotation, a lefty in our park, and a strong presence in the clubhouse. And with the depth we've added to the pitching staff, we can afford to let him come back at his own pace.

en We're excited to have him back, because it gives us more depth on the defensive side of the ball and an added veteran presence. It allows us more flexibility to move around with our roster. Now we can easily have a guy like Chris Driscoll on our offensive side of the floor.

en This gives us credibility in our starting rotation. We needed a veteran presence. We don't need him to carry this staff; we just want him to pitch well. It's a great addition.

en No question. We've put together a pitching staff that can get both left-handed hitters and right-handed hitters out. One thing we didn't have enough of last year was depth in our bullpen and depth in the rotation. I think we have that this year. We're very excited about that.

en Good pitching staff. I think that right now those guys throw the ball well. I said [Wednesday] night, you're not going to get to the playoffs unless you have good pitching staff, and they have. They have, to me, the best in baseball, or at least the American League. They're so good, they don't have a lefty. They don't need one. That's how good they are.

en We are very optimistic. I like the depth of our pitching staff, I think we have a lot of versatility and offensively, I think this is a strong team.

en If you want complete games and you want more pitching, you get veteran pitchers and pay more for them. It hasn't been intentional. Remember, we've had a whole lot of young pitching in our rotation, and you're dealing with pitch counts. And they have come into play a heck of a lot.

en We've added depth in places where we hadn't had depth. The pitching and defense is very good right now.

en Their first two (starting pitchers) are pretty darn good. The thing that we're seeing is that the depth of their pitching staff might not be as strong. We need to try to get into their bullpen and do some damage.

en This gives us credibility in our starting rotation. We needed a veteran presence.
